Picnic In The Park – Amy Tangerine | Mixed Media | Amy Kattenbelt

Good Morning Magpies, I am here today sharing with you two more layouts that I have created with the fun new collection from Amy Tangerine called ‘Picnic In The Park‘. I have also used the new Texture Pastes by Vicki Boutin and a few of her stencils. I have to admit to being a little bit in love with these texture pastes! The colours are so vibrant, something that is hard to achieve when trying to create your own coloured paste using white texture paste ad the base. I find colours often end up pastel and depending on the medium you are adding the paste can also go too fluid. These pastes have the perfect consistency. They go through stencils really cleanly, although in my layouts I decided to actually use the secondary printing so they have an awesome watercolour effect. The set contains 6 super bright colours which match perfectly to many of the new collections, so do check them out if Mixed Media is your thing!

Layout One – Life is Good

As mentioned above, I created this mixed media background by first using two colours of the Vicki Boutin texture pastes (blueberry pie and blue hawaiian) with a stencil. The result was a crisp clean image that I have saved for a different layout. I then noticed that my stencil was covered in texture paste, which i could either wash off, or being every resourceful, instead I sprayed the stencil with a little water and flipped it onto another sheet of heavy duty bazzill marshmallow white cardstock. The result was this beautiful soft yet bright mixed media background.

I trimmed this carstock down to 11″ by 11″, distressed the edges and used my sewing machine to stitch it onto a piece of 12″ x 12″ white textured cardstock. I printed my photo out to quite a large size and then matted it in smooth white card.

From the 12×12 paper pad in the Picnic In The Park collection, I die cut some circles in various blue patterned papers, and placed them on top of my background.

I added some embellishments from the collection, choosing pieces in blues and greens. The 3D paper bow is super cute. I finished the layout by adding a title using pale blue glittery Thickers also from the same collection.

Layout Two – Let’s Go

I created the background to this layout using the same technique as the first. This time decided on a colour palette of red, pinks, yellows and orange.

Again, I embellished my layout with stickers and die cuts from the collection. I added a 3D paper bow. The title is also from the same Thicker set, but is white with a gorgeous shimmer to it.

I stamped the black leaves from the Picnic In the Park stamp set and fussy cut them out. I do love stamp sets as they can be used again and again.

Thank you for taking the time to look closer at my layouts. I hope I have inspired you to maybe get messy and start creating!
