Paige Evans – Horizon by Pink Paislee
Hey there Magpies, this month I have been crafting with the wonderful new collection Horizon by Paige Evans. It is a lovely, bright, colourful collection, with lots of gorgeous papers and embellishments to choose from.
When I first saw the collection, I think like many of you, I was drawn to the rainbow paper #3. I have seen lots of beautiful layouts created with it and wanted to try and do something a little bit different. This inspired me to get out my hexagon punches and have a play. So you will notice a hexagon theme throughout my layouts this time.
How Not To Take a Selfie
My first layout this week is the one which uses Paper #3 and I started by using a 1.5” hexagon punch to cut out as many hexagons of a solid colour as I could. I ended up using a little bit of Paper #14 as well just to give me enough hexagons of each colour.
I then arranged them on the page in the order they were in the original paper. This created a lovely rainbow stripe across the left hand side of the page.
Next I selected two 6×4 photos, which I matted onto black card. Positioning them to the right of the rainbow, overlapping them slightly.
I cut three more hexagons from Paper #14, this time using a 2” punch to provide the base for my embellishment. Tucking each one under the photos, to create a visual triangle. I added a word sticker from the Cardstock Stickers to each hexagon, a wood veneer flower and a blue enamel dot to finish off each cluster.
I chose two colours of Thickers for my title. The black so it would stand out against the bright background. Then the silver as I wanted to emphasise the words “not” and “selfie”. After I had placed my title I felt like it was floating, so I added a strip of kraft paper to give it some grounding, along with three more blue enamel dots.
I finished the page by adding my printed journaling strips above the photos and the date to one of the embellishment clusters.
Birthday Meal
My second layout started with a sheet from the 6×8 Paper Pad. I loved this ombre pink sheet and thought it would work perfectly to pick out the pink in the photo. The photo also has a lot of blue, which I decided to pick up on. So I decided to use the B side of Paper #16, which I placed horizontally on the page. I wanted a subtler pattern to go in the background. Choosing the beautiful rainbow cross pattern of Paper #15.
I matted my 6×4 photo onto black card, so that it would stand out against the dark blue background that I was placing it on. At this stage I felt that my layout needed something else. I experimented with some of the other papers in the collection, however I felt they were too much against the layout so far. Instead I decided to bring more of the black from the photo mat into the page. Using my 1.5” hexagon punch I punched a number of hexagons out of the black card. Placing them vertically on top of the pink paper and at the bottom right corner of the photo.
I added an Elles Studio word sticker, a heart Cardstock Sticker, an enamel dot and an asterisk sticker from a Happy Planner sticker book to three of the hexagons. Finishing the page by adding my printed journaling strips to the left of the photo and the title below the photo using thickers.
My Little Mousey
For my third layout, I decided to scrap lift a traveler’s notebook spread that I had made previously. I used my 2” punch and cut a number of hexagons out of the solid coloured parts of Paper #14. Arranging then in colour order across the top of the page, with some going off the edge. I also added a strip along the bottom of the page, following the same colour order as above.
I chose to use two 3×4 photos, matting them onto black card to make them stand out. Placing them in the middle of the page, overlapping the join in the spread.
For my embellishment, I used an Elles Studio stamp set to stamp out three labels. Placing them on either side of the photos and also in the bottom corner of the page. To each of the labels I added a thin strip of washi tape, a stamped phrase and a wood veneer heart. I finished off the page, by adding my title and printed journaling strips below the photos.
Thank you for joining me again today, I hope you have enjoyed seeing the Horizon collection from Paige Evans. You can find the collection here. There are currently a few items out of stock in the shop, however these items will hopefully be being restocked.
I have really enjoyed working with all the rainbow papers so far this month and will be back with more layouts on 25th. So until then Happy Scrapping!
