Out on the Sea Scrapbook Layout – 49 and Market – Beach Vibes -Wendy Meffan

There’s nothing quite like the sea breeze and salty air of Falmouth, and I wanted to capture those memories in a way that reflected both the adventure of the boat trip and the relaxed coastal atmosphere. For this layout, I reached for 49 and Market’s Beach Vibes collection, which couldn’t have been a better match.

 

I began by stencilling a large compass using Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide as a subtle extra background feature . The weathered teal tone perfectly echoed the nautical feel while adding texture and interest behind my central design. My base was a 12 x 12 patterned paper from the collection, already rich with beachy tones and details that set the scene beautifully.

To frame my favourite photo from the day, I tucked it neatly into one of the 3×4 journal cards whihcI cut from the 12×12 cut apart paper. This gave me a ready-made mat with seaside flair, pulling the eye toward the snapshot while leaving plenty of space for embellishment. From there, I began layering in laser cuts—everything from shells and sandcastles to seaside foliage. To give the page extra definition, I carefully cut around one of the seagulls with a craft knife so it could be raised to give more dimension, almost as if it were soaring right off the paper.

Dimension is key for bringing a layout to life, so I raised several pieces of ephemera laser cuts on sticky fixers. This simple step added shadow, depth, and a tactile quality that really makes the page pop. The end result is a scrapbook spread that feels airy, textured, and full of coastal charm.

Just like that day on the boat in Falmouth, this page captures a sense of freedom, adventure, and the timeless pull of the sea.
