Our House – Carta Bella
Well, this is exciting – a new year and my first post as a Magpie Team member, Happy New Year everyone!
For my first two layouts I chose a collection from Carta Bella called Our House. It’s quite versatile as it can be used for a summer or autumn theme, a layout about home or one relating to cooking as all these subjects are included in the collection. There’s also a sheet of cut apart journalling cards with 6″ x 4″ designs and a great sheet of stickers with lots of fun elements.
For my first page I cut two 12″ wide pieces, one from the back of the 4″x6″ Journalling Cards paper and the other from the Spice of Life paper to form a border on the lower edge and I added a navy blue scalloped border which I cut with my Silhouette. I double mounted the photo and placed it at an angle to the right of the page. I then added lots of stickers to run along the edges of the borders and a couple of cut-out pieces from Spice of Life which has rows of cute spice jars on one side!
To add a little more interest and texture I added a few groups of cross stitch and a running stitch around three sides of the page.
My title is a cut file from Silhouette (design no. 29454) and I liked how the word ‘summer’ can be highlighted in a contrasting colour to coordinate with the colour scheme of the layout.
My second page uses a cooking theme, to take advantage of the stickers relating to baking. And because I had this cute photo which was an obvious choice! As I didn’t have a ready made title with this collection I used my trusty Silhouette again to make the huge title (design no. 140348) using Wildflowers and white cardstock. I chose dark blue for the base colour to allow the title to really stand out.
After mounting the photo using the back of Spice of Life paper I added a die cut frame from the ephemera pack. I cut a section from one of the journalling cards to fit inside the frame and I cut down a lined sticker to fit below it.
Then I added a doily, which I cut in half, to go behind the photo and the frame. I placed a few of the stickers either side of the photo and added white dots with a pen… or maybe they could be a dusting of flour!
Happy New Year everyone and happy scrapping!
