Oldie but Goodie
Hi Magpies, this month, while waiting for all those luscious new collections to come in, I chose to work with Dear Lizzie ‘Happy Place’ & Amy Tangerine ‘Better Together’, two older collections, one of which I’d overlooked completely.
My first layout ‘Dog gone crazy’ is using a snapchat photo that my youngest daughter loves to take & this time we were turned into dogs!!! I first gessoed the white cardstock & added some inks using the packaging technique & added some coloured texture paste through a circle stencil. I cut the photo into a circle & used that in the centre of my design & then cut various sizes of circles out of the 6×6 paper pads, adding those in a diagonal line across the page. I stitched some embroidery circles, in 3 colours, & added some stamped words. The title is using the Hardcover puffy stickers in that fab bright pink. I finished the layout off with a few sprinkles of ink, some enamel dots, 3 exclusive flair badges, border stitching around the outside edge & a couple of Carpe Diem clear stickers, which I use on everything.
My second layout ‘Love you to pieces’ came about from seeing that great die cut online. I cut it out on my silhouette & backed it with papers from both 6×6 paper pads. I then watercoloured around the edge of the heart & stitched around it 3 times. I added a few lines of zigzag stitching to add some texture & a few drops of Heidi shine in gold. I printed my photo 6×4 & then cut it up before backing it with white cardstock & push + pull paper & then pieced it back together adding various depths of foam tape behind each piece. I added a few pieces of paper behind my photo & added my title, again using the pink puffy stickers & a few from my stash. I embellished the page with some ephemera, stamps, clear stickers, bow paperclip & those gorgeous enamel hearts from illustrated faith, I have them in every colour & use them on everything. I finished the layout by backing it on the lovely blue & white polka dot ‘push + pull’ paper.
My final layout for this month was a bit of a labour of love & for I while, during it, I wished I hadn’t started. I saw this quote on pinterest & loved it, knowing one day I’d like to use it on a layout. I sketched it onto black cardstock using my silhouette & a white sketch pen & then proceeded to prick holes all around it, that was the easy part, I then had to sew it!!! Which took me a few evenings, doing it slowly, as my eyes aren’t as sharp as they once were. Finally I was finished & I then set about making the feather. I cut out a rough feather shape from white cardstock & then cut each piece, layering them up & sewing them down overlapping them until all the white cardstock was covered up. I then sewed down the middle to define the feather. I misted a feather shape onto my black cardstock & added a few splatters. I kept my photo mat very plain as I wanted the focus to be on the quote & the feather. I ripped two edges of my cardstock & sewed it to a piece of Carpe diem ‘don’t mind me’ paper, & distressed the edges.
I hope you have enjoyed looking at my creations today & don’t overlook some of the older collections in the store because of all the new goodies coming in. I hope I have shown you that they can still feature in your scrapbooking along with the new lines, until next time xoxo
