– OLD SCHOOL – HEIDI SWAPP- PART TWO – WENDY MEFFAN
Hey Magpies, I’m back on the blog sharing two more LO using the Heidi Swapp Old School Collection. I loved the colours of this collection and enjoyed challenging myself with their combination together. I was desperate to use the tiger face from the 6×8 paper pad and having been given a quote by a friend ( Stephanie Louis Squires) I found a way to incorporate it.
My poor son has worked from home in our kitchen since the middle of March and I wanted to mark his commitment to his company and also to himself . It has not been easy as we are all home and he has soldiered on every day, showing me what a tough constitution he has.
Initially I used some watercolours to create a background for the LO. I wanted to work the LO around the tiger’s face s it symbolises strength and power. I used stickles glue over all the stripes to make the face stand out more.
I tucked some strips of 6×8 paper under the edge of this paper and used a border punch along them. Then I matted the photos using the 6×8 papers and then used a piece from the 12×12 Urban Stories cut apart sheet behind them.
I used some Bramble fox dies to create the mesh look and the barbed wire going the sense of the tiger being caged but also that Jake had been caged in the kitchen for 8 months.
I then made a small cluster with a frame die again from Bramble Fox in the top right corner. I added a tiger sticker from the sticker book which I back with white card stock to give it more of a solid feel and added it into the frame.
I again use the cut apart sheet and used the Live in the Moment tag from it under the photo.
Finally I added the title of the quote and Covid-19 using mini thickers from Paige Taylor Evans.
I am pleased with this LO and glad to have documented another part of the Covid-19 Pandemic and its affect on our lives.
Layout 2
I really loved the 12×12 Summerland paper in this collection and was determined to use it although the LO is not anything I initially had my mind!
I cut the paper up into individual pieces and then distressed the edges and took a while to find an arrangement I liked on the page. Then I chose to use a 6×4 photo as the centre piece which I matted on paper from the 6×8 pad.
I used the 12x 12 cut apart sheet again cutting out the pink tag, the quote, the live in the moment tag and the good vibes. I added these around the sides of the photo.
I backed one of the mini cameras from the sticker book and added it to the the bottom of the quote card.
I then fussy cut some of the pink flowers and added them as a border along the side of the tag on the Left.
I used the Time to Just Chill tag from the tag set at the top of the LO and then added a few word phrase stickers from the sticker book to describe the day.
I tucked in some sticked from the sticker book around the LO and added more word phrases at the bottom.
Finally I added a title in some really old letters I had from Prima many years ago!
This is a beautiful collection and again shows great versatility in the colour schemes which you can create from it.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and remember to post any of your LO on the hey Little Magpie Facebook page
Happy scrapping, till next time
