Old Photos & New Collections.

Hi there x Sheena here again.
These days we all take way more photos than any of our previous generations did. Consequently when I usually scrap I reach for a recent photo, which was probably taken with my phone, as a starting point. I recently attended a lovely baby shower along with our Niki Rowland & we played a game of “guess the baby”. We were then encouraged to scrap our baby pic. This had me thinking about how well old photos would go with the new collections from Crate Paper, Pink Paislee & American Crafts. None of the photos I’ve used I’d call vintage!! but were all taken in the 1960’s & 70’s.
First  new collection- Crate Paper – Craft Market.

This is an old photo of me in my parents back garden. The muted tones of this paper range is perfect for slightly faded images. I used the fresh Paint paper over kraft cardstock as my base. Then built up 4 areas of interest using the ephemera die cuts, wood veneer embroidery hoops &  stickers. The title was silhouette cut & inked to co ordinate & a few small embellishments of my own added to finish.

Next new collection- Pink Paislee – Citrus Bliss.

This is an old primary school photo of me & I’m loving the collars on the blouse!! I thought this yellow, white & teal combo was new till I saw this photo, it’s funny how things keep coming back around. I used the Bloom patterned paper over cardstock to start then layered the Instagram cards & frames behind the photo. The embellishments are from the chipboard shapes, puffy stickers & die cut shapes, plus some enamel dots & Amy Tan phrases. The title words are foam & more glittery in real life.

Last new collection – American Crafts – Shimelle -True Stories.

This photo is an old primary school one of my husband which I really love. I used the Frappe patterned paper with the Salted Caramel paper trimmed a little over the top. I’ve used cards from the cut apart sheet & ephemera shapes & icons to layer behind my photo. Plus cork stickers, a stamped camera & epoxy buttons to complete the look.

My last page using more of the Shimelle – True Stories range.

This page features my Dad & eldest brother many moons ago. I loved both sides of the Cappuccino paper so I just cut it & Flipped the lower side over & covered the join. A win win as far as I’m concerned. The layering is a mixture of patterned papers & cards from the cut a part sheet which is where the title came from too. The embellishments are from the ephremera shapes & icons pack, enamel stars & Freckled fawn cork stars along with some sewing & mist splashes.

I hope these pages inspire you to dig out some of your old photos & try pairing them with new collections x
