Oh What Fun! | Simple Stories – Hearth and Holiday| Amy Kattenbelt
Hello Magpies, Amy here to share a festive layout using Simple Stories ‘Hearth & Holiday‘ collection, alongside some JD3D Print items. This is my last Christmas themed layout, but I am happy to have scrapped a few of my 2022 photos.
Oh, What Fun
I started this layout by creating a mixed media background. I am afraid the photos don’t do it justice, but I first painted on some Shimmerz Inklingz in ‘Miner, Miner, 49er’. Its such a beautiful pale glimmery gold colour. I painted it using a large stiff brush in broad horizontal strokes. When this was dry I used the ‘Faded Circles‘ stamp by Darkroom Door and the Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide, to add areas of circles.
For this layout I used stripes of leftover paper from my previous layouts. I created a backwards L sort of shape, tearing some of the edges for added interest and texture. I also added a large filmstrip piece in Fern colour, by 49& Market. If you haven’t seen these before I can highly recommend them. They come in lots of different coloured packs.
Next I added my photo that has both a white and then a black narrow frame to make it stand out. I used an old die set to cut 3 Christmas tree shapes out of the green patterned paper. You could easily cut these by hand or on an electric machine too. I popped them up with foam tape to add dimension.
For my title I used a phrase sticker that says “Oh, What Fun” from the foam pack. I also embellish the layout with some stickers and smaller die-cut pieces as well as a tag cut from the 12×12 tag cut apart paper.
Lastly I added some JD3D Print baubles and some sparkles to my layout. I feel these really finish the layout off perfectly and fill the empty space in the top right of the page.
Thank you so much for coming to take a closer look at my layout. I will be back in a few weeks time to share some more layouts, this time with a totally different theme. In the meantime, Take Care,
