Office Hours| Julie Taylor

Hi Magpies, This month I’ve choose to work with Office Hours by Pinkfresh Studio. I’ve always loved Pinkfresh Studio’s collections & this one was no exception, lovely muted colours of green, mustard, blue & coral all mixed together with clock, book, coffee & desk icons, something for everyone.

Once Upon A Time

For my first layout I chose to concentrate on the books in the kit. I first added an embossed piece of text paper to the right side & added a scolloped border of book paper & a notebook punched piece of paper & sewed them into place. I found this quote on Pinterest, about books but really talking about life ( as advice to my daughter) & printed it out on vellum & attached it with eyelets to the embossed paper, adding some bakers twine for interest.

That then left me with the left side of the layout. I found this cut file, by Anett Gelencser, which was perfect for my page & cut it out in white & backed it with Hustle paper, using both the text side & the note side, & stitched in between all the books.

I added some soft watercolours around the cut file to make it pop more. I then made a stack of papers for my photo above & added bits of ephemera around it.

My title comes from the beautiful Puffy Alphabet Stickers, which are an adorable soft pink colour.

Todays Moments Are Tomorrows Memories

For my second layout I’ve chose the clock icon to feature. Paper Hard Work is full of clocks & I fussy cut them all out but only used a few in the end. I added some oxide inks to the white cardstock background using the packaging technique, splattering, stencilling & stamping in a centre line widening more at the top & bottom.

I added my photo, at the top, on a large matt of papers & added ephemera & added a small bit at the bottom, picking bits that were clock, day or time related.

I wanted to keep the layout central & my title was large so chose to add some of it vertically which did the job & hopefully can still be read as it’s supposed to be.
