Off on a Field Trip with Shimelle | Niki Rowland
Hi Magpies, this is Niki here today with two layouts to share using the Shimelle Field Trip collection. When I initially saw this collection I immediatly thought of our recent trip to the Natural History Museum and all the fantastic things we saw there. Whilst this collection is full of very fun bugs, dinosaurs, and rockets, the papers themselves are full of fabulous patterns that are mostly quite generic, especially the B sides, so this collection can be used for lots of different things.
I had the 12×12 papers, the cardstock stickers, Curious Foam Alphabet Thickers, Ephemera, Embossed Puffy Stickers and the Enamel Dots & Shapes to play with.
For my first layout ‘Curiosity Knows No Bounds’ I have used the awesome wide striped paper to create a colourful area at the bottom of my layout. I’ve used white card for my background and had great fun piling all the embellishments around my photos. I’ve cut up the paper that had library cards all over it and have tucked a few of those to the right of my photos. In particular I had to use the one that said ‘Museum of Natural History’ as that’s where we were!
I loved the circle ephemera that says ‘here for the snacks’ becuase that’s what they asked me for all day long!!
For my second layout I went for a space theme. One of the papers had this fantastic space scene all over it BUT try as I might, I just couldn’t add my photo to that dark background…I HAD to have some white space! So I trimmed the paper, around one of the circles which gave me a great amount of white space at the bottom. Phew!
I used silver thread in my sewing machine and stitched around the circles. I fussy cut planets, rockets and spaceships from the remaining paper and pulled out all these type of embellishmemts from the stickers and the ephemera. I also cut things from the cut-apart sheet and used the puffy stickers too. I used all these to embellish the ‘space’ part of the layout.
I added a couple of paper layers behind my photo and some ephemera too. I got all this in position and added the large rocket to the right of my photo too. I then added in my title using the fabulous Thickers from this collection.
I finished off by adding splatters of paint and lots of gorgeous sequins to add to the starry night effect.
I absolutely love how this layout turned out!
Thanks so much for joining me today and head over to the Hey Little Magpie shop to pick up some of Shimelle Field Trip.
Happy scrapping xxx
