NSD 2020| Moodboard Challenge | Amy Kattenbelt

Hello Magpies, It’s Amy here with challenge number 5 for National Scrapbooking Day 2020. My challenge is to be inspired by the moodboard below, which I have created.

To be in with the chance of winning 1000 magpie points, that’s £10 to spend in store, just upload your entries to the corresponding album in our Facebook Chat & Inspiration Group.

For each challenge you enter, you’ll also be added into a grand prize draw to win 3000 magpie points, so the more entries, the more chances you have to win.

Entries close at midnight on the 17th May 2020 so there’s plenty of time to get creating.

The moodboard

I understand that moodboards are a little bit like marmite to scrapbookers, you either love them or hate them. Personally I love them as they can be interpreted in so many ways.  You can pick either just one of the images that speaks to you, or mix and match elements from more than one image. I like to challenge myself and try and incorporate as many elements from the moodboard as I can. You could simply used the pastel colour scheme as inspiration for the layout. Maybe you would like to create a birthday themed layout, or use flowers in a heart shape. You could scrap about your home beyond your front door, somewhere most of us are spending a lot of time at the moment. The ideas are truly endless and this is exactly why I love moodboard challenges.

My Little Fishy

Take a look at the example layout I created below, using the moodboard. You can see I used the pastel shades of aqua and pink as my main colour scheme, and added smaller amounts of pale lemon yellow. The main structure of the layout was inspired by the top right image of the two doors in the archways. I took the idea of using polka dot patterned papers from the background of the doughnut and candle image. The bottom left image actually reminded me of fish scales so I decided to scrap a photo of my fish. The same image also gave me the idea for the overlapping triangle banners in the top right and lower left corners of my layout. I added a butterfly and a flower that are in the other images of the moodboard. Lastly I added a few little ladybirds to my layout, as can be seen in the floral heart image. I spotted ladybirds in both the newest Paige Evans Bloom collection and Shimelle’s Never Grow Up collection.

Good luck, have fun and stay safe,
