Not My Norm ….
Hi, its Jackie here, with my first month layouts for Hey Little Magpie. So here goes! For this month I selected papers from different manufactures and a few embellishments. I went for papers that I wouldn’t normally purchase (hence the title) and I’m so glad I did has they were lovely to work with. My selection came from Studio Calico – South of Market, Imaginisce – Perfect Vacation, Fancy Pants – Everyday Circus and Bella Blvd – Max.
For my first layouts I wanted to document my son always getting to taste the first strawberry that we grow in our garden. And when I spotted the strawberry patterned papers from Studio Calico, I knew I wanted to use it, not as a full background paper, but more of an accent, and checking the B-side of the paper, it has a lovely yellow pattern, which I used to back the photos, and provide accents around the page.
The blue patterned paper is the B-side from this one with Cows on, which was more useable.
then used a few embellishments from the Bella Blvd – Max and added a ticket from EveryDay Circus
Finishing off with some stamped images on cork – using Technique Tuesday and Amy Tangerine stamps.
Favorite Dude – Fancy Pants, Bella Blvd, Imaginisce.
For my 2nd layout I converted the photos to black & white so the colours didn’t clash with the papers. For this layout I wanted to use as much as I could of the Bella Blvd – Max paper pieces.
I stamped the background with various stamped images, using Technique Tuesday and used some Mr Huey to splat some ink and do some inked circles.
This checked heart was from the ‘friends tag’ from the pack and a used the rest of the tag to back the wood veneer arrow and heart frame.
I also stamped two tab details using these new sets of stamps from Studio L2e stamps – the yellow paper is this one using the b-side again.
It’s Booked – Imagainice – Perfect Vacation
For my final layout I used Imaginisce – Perfect Vacation – I must admit this is a manufacturer that I’ve not really looked at before, but I was pleasantly surprised and it is definitely one I will be using again.
I wanted to document my plans to celebrate mine and Julie’s 50th birthday in New York next year. After a lot, and I mean a lot of discussions and planning, and me spending many hours at the travel agents, it was finally booked and we could start the countdown.
In the embellishment pack there was a lovely mini photo frame, so I added the photo of the group of friends who I’ll be going with.
I also added one of the HLM flair badges
For some extra details I added a stitched line from the UK to USA with a small wood veneer plane, as well as some stitched crosses on the photo mats.
Hope you liked my layouts for this month, thanks for dropping by and I’ll be back next month.
