Not Just for Teenagers | Kate & Ash – Simple Stories | Morag Cutts

Hi there.  I hope you are enjoying your summer. I am playing with the awesome Kate & Ash collection by Simple Stories this month.  It is totally fun and has some very cool phrases and designs.  Although this collection is perfect for teenagers, it is also brilliant for other fun topics too.

Julie and I had been out for a meal last year and they had Mexican sombreros – so we had to try them on of course. I wanted to create a fun layout with lots of energy (like a Mexican fiesta).

I started off with a starburst stencil – I rubbed Broken China Distress Oxide ink in two places.  I then used the same stencil with texture paste to add some additional depth. I then added some splatters using diluted Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink.

I matted the photos onto patterned papers (UR Beautiful & Whatever!) and added some of the cute Bits & Pieces die-cuts and foam stickers. I absolutely adore those Foam Stickers – they have lots of really easy to use titles and cute little icons – perfect little accents.

To finish off the bottom of the layout I cut an angled piece of patterned paper (Awkward) before adding the die-cut Besties title over some matching twine for extra texture.

Beautiful Layout

Sadly, like so many things, my daughter’s prom was cancelled this year.  She had been so looking forward to it and had worked for a dress shop.  Luckily she did get to try out lots of dresses as part of her role.

For my second layout, I smooshed Broken China Distress ink onto the background before adding some black splatters although  I ended up covering most of it.

The patterned papers are quite bright, so to use a number of pieces I cut them into smaller strips.  It’s a great way to add some texture without it overpowering your photo.

There are cute girly designs in the Bits & Pieces die-cut pack – the hairdryer is perfect for my photo.  I added more foam stickers and cardstock stickers along the side of my photo to create a border.

I also added some stamped butterfly elements and added a few gold stars for a little more glamour to finish things off.

I hope you like the Kate & Ash collection as much as I do.  Don’t forget that you can share your layouts over on the Hey Little Magpie Facebook group.
