No Limits Part 2 – Cocoa Vanilla Studio – Amy Kattenbelt

Hello  Magpies, Amy here today sharing another layout with you that I created using the new “No Limits” collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. Its available to purchase on the Hey Little Magpie online shop here.

Hey Cool Kid

I created my background using two of the 12×12 patterned papers. One is called “Orbit” and the other “Star Dust“. I cut the central area of the circular design of the Orbit paper out, following the design and using a craft knife. As the design isn’t perfectly circular this was very easy to do.

I trimmed the Star Dust paper down to 11.5 inches square. Then I placed this centrally onto black side of the 12×12 piece of Orbit. Thus the area that I previously cut out is hidden. Next I inked the edge of the cut out circle piece with blue distress oxide ink and then stuck it in the middle of my layout.

I stitched around the edge of the blue patterned paper with my sewing machine using black thread. I varied between straight stitch and a zigzag stitch to add interest.

Next I cut thin long triangles out of various other patterned papers. Some of these were 12×12 papers and others were from the A5 paper stack. These were stuck onto my layout as shown in the photo below. Then I stitched down the centres of each one.

I matted my photo onto the yellow and orange starburst 3×4 card from the pocket card set, and stuck this to the middle of my layout.

To form my title I used three of the words from the die cut title set, placing once word above my photo and two below. I also added one of the rocket die cuts, from the ephemera die cut pack, to the lower right of my photo. To balance this I added the a die cut to the left of my layout.

Next I added some of the open star die cuts to the layout, overlapping my triangle pieces in some places. I cut up one of the stickers from the sticker sheet and placed the words at the top of my circular design to read “out of this world”. I also fussy cut the tiny planet from this sticker and the earth and placed these on my layout too. They were too nice to not use.

Lastly I added some of the small puffy sticker planets from the puffy sticker set to the circles of the patterned paper to add some more dimension and interest.

Thank you for coming and taking a closer look at how I created this layout. I hope you feel inspired to give this star burst design a try. We would love for you to share your creations over on the Hey Little Magpie Facebook Group.
