No Cheer Here! and It’s Tough to be a Bug | Niki Rowland

Hey everyone, this is Niki back with two more layouts using Say Cheese Christmas by Simple Stories. This collection was so perfect for me becuase I visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Christmas time! I had the 12×12 papers, Combo Stickers, Bits & Pieces Die Cuts and the Chipboard Stickers to use.

 

For my first layout today, I’ve used the title ‘No Cheer Here’ becuase we were all on a water ride that my husband wanted to go on, but no one else wanted to! So we have photos of us all with sad faces and thumbs down! I decided to use lots of different papers on this layout and thought I’d go with lots of circles! I cut some using my Big Shot in different sizes and some ‘open’ circles too.

I outlined each circle with a black journaling pen to make them stand out. I also cut a few circles from white card which I then embossed with an embossing folder. I really loved how this layout turned out. I’ve used stickers and ephemera to embellish and enamel dots too. I also doodled some little mouse heads onto the background, so cute!

 

For my second layout, I scrapped a photo of us at the It’s Tough to be a Bug show. I thought I’d get some of those gorgeous stripes onto my background so I created a large area of patterned paper over on the right side of my layout.

I’ve used lots of embellishments on this layout. I’ve used plenty of chipboard, stickers and ephemera. I’ve also created one of the bugs from Bugs Life from one of the patterned papers.  I traced it from a screen and then transferred to the bright green patterned paper. He’s not perfect but he’s definitely recognisable and I’m happy he’s there!

For my title I’ve used Thickers from my stash – two different types in red and gold. I’ve added gold thread twiddles and some red paint splatters. The cute kids in this collection are super-cute and of course are perfect with all the photos I have.

I finished off with a few acrylic stars from Bramble Fox and handwrote in my journaling.

I’ve enjoyed working with this collection so much, it has been so perfect for me and my Christmas Disney photos! I promise to be back using a different collection later in the month.
