New Year Traditions – Simple Stories – For the Record – Wendy Meffan
Happy New Year Magpies! It’s Wendy here and I’m sharing my first layout for January using Simple Stories – For The Record Collection. I love its vibrancy and use of primary colours.
I thought I would document a fairly new tradition of going for a walk and having a nice pub lunch afterwards with some good friends. It’s a good way to blow away the cobwebs and get some fresh air after the Christmas period. I chose for this layout to pick out the orange, green and pink with a splash of red. I used a patterend paper from the6x8 paper pad to create a block background across the layout. I then added a coordinating strip using a border punch top and bottom. I used a single 3×4 photo and started to embellish around it. I used ephemera from the Journal bits and Pieces and somme floral pieces from the Floral bits and pieces. I added further embellishments using the Decorative brads and chipboard stickers.
To the left of the photo I added more Journal and Floral Bits and Pieces. I used a number die to cut 2025 which I attached down the side of the journal ephemera. I distressed the edges of all the ephemera I used and raised it on sticky fixers to give more dimension.
At the bottom of the page I created another small cluster to add a bit more interest to the layout, again using the Journal and floral ephemera and decorative.
I love that I was able to scrap this literally an hour after were home from the pub. Scrapping straight after an event definitely makes me more productive! This is probably a record too to have scrapped an event so soon, maybe it should be my New Year’s resolution!.
Any way, until next time… Happy Scrapping!
