Nest Box Kits / Vicki Boutin Weekend – Birmingham, UK- July 2025 | Jackie Ashton
Hello Jackie here, with a different blogpost today.
I want to share what a fantastic weekend we just had with the one and only Vicki Boutin – the number 1 mixed media queen, all the way from Canada – via Southampton – lol x
Some of you might know that I, alongside Sarah run Nest Box Kits and Events – it’s been going for over 2 years now. We started by designing scrapbooking kits a few times a year, and have done a few weekend workshops, both in Warrington and Birmingham. We both teach classes in person, and at the weekend you have plenty of time to finish your classes as well as work on your own projects.

Now back to this past weekend … last year I contacted my friend Vicki and asked if she would come over again to the UK a teach a workshop for us, and thankfully she said yes. She added it to the end of her recent craft cruise from Southampton. As soon as she said yes, it was all systems go to get our heads around sorting this, to make it as fun as we possibility could.
We advertised the two day event via Hey Little Magpie website. Both days were the same format so delegates choose which day suited them best.
Vicki had designed 10 amazing layouts using her last collection from American Crafts – Cut & Paste. The kit was a massive one – starting with 27 sheets of 12 x 12 patterned paper – we knew that the delegates where going to be in for a treat.

Then a quick stop at Cadbury’s World to stock up on some chocolate for Vicki’s family and a photo of us with Bertie – even before any of the kids had a chance – lol x

Everyone had a selfie with Vicki and numerous photographs were taken .
Vicki also signed a personal postcard to everyone,
including signing a completed album of one of her past workshops for one the delegate in attendance.

We had 90 delegates attend and each and everyone of them left wanting more and looking forward to her returning in 2027 – dates tbc.

We had a total blast, it was wonderful for me to get back doing what I love with a passion, it’s been a while and I’d missed it, and seeing everyone enjoying being in the presence of Vicki and learning direct from her was pure joy. She shared so many hints and tips to help us all make our creativity go future and so many laughs.
Big thanks also to James – who was a great help over the weekend.
It was a pleasure and honour to hose Vicki again and look forward to planning our next one – bigger and better – if that can be possible. You all need to come and experience it for yourself – you will love it.
I, as well as Sarah would like to thank each and every crafter who have supported us with Nest Box Kits & Events, not just over this past weekend, but with purchasing our scrapbooking kits and attending our workshops, it makes the hard work worthwhile, and we are truly grateful, thank you so much.
We know with your continued support we can offer more events like this in the future and make some amazing memories together.
