MY AUSTRALIAN LOVES! – SIMPLE STORIES – SWEET TALK – WENDY MEFFAN
Hi everyone! I can’t believe we’re in February already and racing towards Valentine’s day! I’m using Simple Stories Sweet Talk Collection which I was a little nervous about as I don’t have many valentine photos but hopefully these LO will show you how versatile a collection can be and that your photos do not have to be theme specific. I chose this photo of my Australian great nephew as there were some koala prints in the collection.
I started this LO with a mixed media background using distress oxides candied apple and festive berries. I then gutted the 12×12 elements paper and used the B side to make a boarder. I fine lined around the edge with a black pen.
I used the 12×12 I Adore You, Will You be Mine and Sweet Talk 2×2 papers and punched out squares from them. I then distressed all the edges and machine stitched around each one. I kept rearranging them all over the page and eventually ended up with a heart shape which seemed very apt!
I fussy cut some of the animals from the 2×2 sheet and also from the journal die cuts.
I used the 3×4 Your so Sweet card from the Sweet Talk 3×4 Elements paper and again distressed the edges and sewed around it . I matted the photo on a double layer of papers from the collection. I placed everything onto the LO and adhered it all with sticky fixers to give some depth. I then dded a few colour coordinating bramblefox star perspextives. Finally I added some decorative brads and some sequins. Then I stamped some little hearts randomly around the LO.
LAYOUT 2 – KOALA LOVE!
Again I started with mixed media on this LO and used distress oxides. I used a combination of festive berries, pickled raspberry, candied apple and worn lipstick. Then I added some background stamping in black and also some in red. After I stamped some words and mini hearts.
For this LO is decided I would use some of the tags from the 12×12 Sweet Talk tags paper. I distressed the edges of three tags and machine sewed around them. Then I matted my three photos and placed them the LO in vertical presentation. I added bakers twine to each of them .
I used the big Koala from the 4×4 elements paper, again distressing the edges and sewing around them. I then chose some of the Sweet talk Die cut journal pieces to tuck in around the photos. I distressed the edges and sewed around them.
I added some bramblefox heart perspextives as they co ordinated perfectly with the colours of the collection, also a few sequins.
I really enjoyed using this collection and am pleased with my LO. Pop back later in the month to see a couple more.
I hope you feel inspired and don’t forget to post you LO on our Facebook page.
Happy scrapping till next time !
