More Shimelle Head in the Clouds by Niki

Hi Magpies! Niki here today with two more layouts using Shimelle’s latest collection Head in the Clouds. This time I decided to pick out a couple of the characters from the collection and re-create them, supersized, on my layouts.

I have both a mermaid and a dragon in my family so went for those characters!

I was working with the 12 x 12 papers, the Chipboard Accent stickers, 6×12 Accent Stickers, Ephemera, Enamel Shapes & Dots, Foam Phrase Glitter Thickers, and the Puffy Heart Stickers. 

For this first layout I used white card for my background, with a border using the ‘All a Dream’ paper which has scales on the b side.  I cut out the mermaid and made her some hair and a top. I cut semi circles from the scales and then layered those onto her tail. This didn’t look quite as good as I had hoped, so I added lots of sequins which made her tale sparkle!

I added my photos and a long title and of course added multiple mermaid embellishments. I also added a few tiny details to the background to make it look like it was underwater…tiny fish, a jellyfish and hand drew in some bubbles.

For my next layout, I re-created one of the dragons. I made a template first and then cut the different pieces out of different patterned papers. He ended up a bit dark but I drew in all the details with a sharpie to give him definition. I also stitched his eye and eyebrow with white thread.

I added two photos and another long title. This is something I’m enjoying a lot at the moment…making long titles from different alphabets. It’s also a great way to use up my enormous stash of Thickers!

I added in lots of dragon embellishments of course, and popped in a random unicorn too, mostly becuase she was the right colour, but she’s a mythical creature too so I figured it was ok!
