More Magical Forest – Crate Paper | Amy Kattenbelt
Hello Magpies, Amy here sharing with you a few more projects using the lovely Magical Forest collection by Crate Paper. I have created a mixed media background layout inspired by the house chipboard pieces, and a little flip book decor mini album using some of the beautiful cut parts and stickers.
Craft Room Extension
When I saw the cute little house pieces on the 12×12 chipboard stickers I thought they would be perfect for a ‘stay at home in 2020’ themed layout. However, my layout seemed to deviate from this idea when i picked my photos, which although taken during the time when we were at home all the time, they were more about my new craft room than anything else.
I used a piece of thick Marshmallow cardstock by bazzill basics, which meant I didnt have to worry about using gesso. I created a watercolour background in the warm pinks and orange tones of the collection. To ground the layout I added strips of patterned paper to the top and bottom of the layout, and used the bottom piece to place the 3 houses.
I fussy cut one of the trees from the patterned paper called Imaginary and used this along with lots of stickers from the collections sticker book to decorate my layout. I finished the layout with my title, and some splashes of gold ink.

For my second project, I have created a little flip book, that can be displayed in my craft room, flipping the pages when I fancy a change. The collection has a lovely cut apart paper called Willow, and I used several of these as the foundations for some of my pages.
I rarely created little mini albums like this, because i love creating 12×12’s. But I really enjoyed decorating all the little pages with my favourite stickers from the collection.
I picked 6 photos, which i printed out in 2″ squares. They are of my eldest son, back when he was little in 2007. I alternated my flip over pages between a photo and a decorative page. I also added the date to one of the pages.
For two of the pages I used the vellum sheet from the collection, which has copper rainbows on it. Its a great way to peep through to the next page, and adds lots of interest.
I hope you have enjoyed looking at all the projects I have created these past 2 months using this wonderful Magical Forest collection. Thank you for taking the time to take a closer look.
Stay safe, and take care,
