More Maggie Holmes Garden Party | Sheena Rowlands

Hi there Magpies, Sheena here again.

Today I am sharing 2 more layouts featuring the Maggie Holmes Garden Party collection from American Crafts. With these 2 layouts I wanted to show how wonderfully varied this collection is. So for each layout I have focused on different colour combinations, all from this Garden Party collection. I used the 12×12 Garden Party paper pad for these layouts and they are only single sided and therefore white on the reverse.

My Happy Place.

For my first layout I went for a tried and tested colour combo – black/ white /pink.  There are lots of patterned papers using these colours to choose from.

I chose 3 patterned papers for the left side of the layout – Pastry party, Garden Stroll and Countryside. I used Pastry Party as the top paper which I tore, wet and rolled along the long edge then added similar strips of the other 2 papers behind.

To create my photo cluster I gathered some journalling cards plus small amounts of other patterned papers to add behind to create a vertical cluster. Using thick white cardstock as my base I dry brushed black acrylic paint on it where I wanted the photo cluster to go. Once I was happy with the paint I let it dry fully.

I machine stitched the torn papers to the left of the cardstock and attached my photo cluster. Using ephemera, fussy cut paper and vellum flowers, chipboard pieces and puffy stickers I added another cluster on the left to add balance to the page.

If you would like to watch a video of how this layout came together, you can find it here.

For my second layout I chose a blue/ green/ yellow colour combination

Hello.

This layout kind of happened by accident! I gathered together all the colour bits and pieces I wanted to possibly use on the page  and I noticed the number of journalling spots and banner pieces and they became my focus.

I used Garden Party – Taking Notes patterned paper as my base. Using scraps in my preferred colours, I layered up my photo. I attached this to the background patterned paper, then arranged the journalling spots above and below then machine stitched the in place. A banner was added to each and then I embellished using chipboard, sticker and puffy flowers, heart and a butterfly.

I hope these layouts inspire you to check out this lovely collection. We would love for you to share with us your creations over on our Facebook group.

Till next time x
