More Joy!

Hello Magpies, I’m back with my second post for April, with layouts using Pinkfresh Studios ‘Joyful Day’.

The first is very girly, taking advantage of the delicate, pretty papers in the collection. To start, I sprinkled a few drops of green ink and cut strips to make the flowery border. Then I added some pink paint to the lower right corner using the packaging technique.

I wanted to fill that corner with colour, so I cut cloud shapes from three of the patterned papers and arranged them over the painted area. You can still see little bits of paint showing through!

I double mounted the photo and tucked it behind some of the cloud edges in the centre of the layout and I put an embellishment on the corner. I highlighted some of the edges with a silver pen and I kept one of the larger clouds for my journalling.

I added the title using a word from the puffy stickers in the collection and the cute multi-coloured alphabet stickers.

I wrote the journalling and added that just below the title, as it explains the reason for using ‘Dream’ as a title. To finish I added a few embellishments here and there and a little cluster in the top left corner for balance.

My second layout is completely different as it doesn’t use any flowers at all! I began by trimming the blue stripe paper to fit a piece of 12″ x 12″ navy cardstock. It looks crooked as the stripes aren’t evenly spaced! I then mounted the photo onto varied sized papers and cardstock, including a piece from the collection’s packaging – it worked well as a neutral background for the photo.

I wondered how I would make the long title stand out, so I placed the words onto contrasting patterned papers, arranging them at different levels so that the final two words are highlighted in a frame.

Then I added a circular die cut and the ‘Hey!’ label behind the photo and tore the papers so that it look liked it was peeking through. I changed the colours of the rosette to match my layout and added it to the right of the photo.

I placed some stars, an arrow, some enamel dots and a button near the photo to add more interest. Finally, I put a cute fabric flag above the packaging paper to add a bit of colour to the page.

That’s it from me for April, until then, happy scrapping everyone.
