More Honey & Spice and all things nice!

Hey there magpies, I am back with the second installment of Honey & Spice from Heidi Swapp. This time I tried to use more of the patterned papers because my go-to, to start a page is white cardstock. Sometimes I branch out and use black but usually it’s white. So I challenged myself to use some of the patterns.

I bought the 12×12 Paper Pad and also a few of the single papers too. I will say, a few times I have bought the pads and compared them to the single papers and the pads have been really dull, dingy and thin. I can’t say I have noticed this problem in the last couple of years though, I have put the single papers on top of the paper pad papers and the quality is the same. I did have one problem though, on the front of both the 12×12 and 6×6 Paper Pads there’s a yellow/brown brocade paper shown (on the bottom of my pic is the front of the 12×12 Pad). Inside both pads, the paper is the one shown on top here in my photo, and it’s a totally different colour, more brown & pink. That was a bit annoying because I wanted something yellow on one of my LO’s and it’s not there!

I really loved the Color Flow paper but I couldn’t make the busy coloured side work for me, so I went with the more subtle grey pattern for my first LO. On top I layered the darker grey pattern which was from Pink Paislee, Auburn Lane but is now out of stock sorry. I try and not use out of stock products but we work a good month in advance and sometimes things sell out. I do apologise again! Then I layered up lots of other papers from the 12×12 Paper Pad undr my photos. I really wanted to use the awesome tag from the bottom right of the Happy Day Paper so I made sure I used that and the pretty flower drawing one too. I layered some of the Die-Cut Ephemera under things as well.

For the title I have used various Thickers. The ‘blooper’ and ‘Taniwha’ ones are old but the ‘oh so’ ones are Sarah Foam Thickers from Maggie Holmes. The little heart washi tape is some older Vicki Boutin but there’s something very similar in the newest Amy Tangerine collection, Slice of Life Washi Tape Set and I can highly recommend that washi tape set, the rainbow is to die for!

I did revert to a black background for this next LO but it’s because I was doing a bit of a grid thing and it was getting too busy. I used a load of the bits from the Die-Cut Ephemera pack and since a lot of them are vellum, I attached with staples. I did use some clear adhesive behind some bits as well. And I used the adorable doggie from the Ephemera pack. I know it doesn’t have any place on my LO of my CAT! But things like that don’t bother me at all these days. If I like something I will just bung it on a LO. And the dog is super cute, I liked him there so I attached him on some foam pads.

Last up is something really out of my comfort zone. It’s not like me to use such a busy pattern as a background! But it just worked for me so I went with it. I was trying to challenge myself because I have been feeling like my LO’s are very samey all the time. This is one of my go-to designs but usually it’s on white. It totally changed the look on a pattern that’s for sure. So it’s the Captured Paper in the background. Then I’ve layered up some of the Die-Cut Ephemera and also, the lovely ‘you are the best thing that’s happened to me’ card which is off the cut-apart Happy Day Paper which is just an awesome card! So I just built a grid around my photo and that card. I did some strips of different patterned papers underneath and that was enough to be done.

I hope you like what I made with the fabulous Honey & Spice collection from Heidi Swapp. I am a big Heidi fan and this collection doesn’t disappoint, it’s very versatile and will suit all sorts of LO’s. You should definitely check it out and I’ll see you next month, I’ll be working with Elle’s Studio products and can’t wait to share! See you in December Magpies, keep warm everyone xXx
