More Holly Days Simple Stories | Julie Taylor

Hello Magpies, Julie here with you today sharing another 2 festive layouts using the gorgeous Holly Days collection from Simple Stories.

JOY

I really enjoyed creating this layout, lots of mixed media & just a small cluster of embellishments in the middle. I started by adding 3 different green oxide inks to the edges of my cardstock, blending them with a brush to get a soft feel. I then stamped, in the same colours plus some grey ink, all over the area with lots of different stamps to give a wide border & then added a few white splatters.

I die cut out some holly leaves, from paper out the 6×8 paper pad & also one in white, for contrast.

I then built my large photo cluster, towards the top, using die cut frames, holly leaves, chipboard, word stickers & sticker brads.

My title came out the bits & pieces pack & I backed the O as I didn’t like seeing through it!!! A bit of glimmer paste & some Nuvo crystal drops, in red berry, finished the layout.

Under the Tree

I’d seen these lovely origami trees on social media & thought they’d look good on a layout so off to YouTube I went!!! They were relatively easy to make but look really effective I think.

I choose the greener papers from the 6×8 paper pad & made quite a few (the rest will go on some special Christmas cards!!!)

I cut a semi circle, in my white cardstock, towards the top & distressed the edges. I stencilled a couple of trees, one either side, & added texture paste, to look like snow, all over the top half of the page.
