More From The Yellow Door – Fancy Pants

Hey Magpies, Caroline back with you again today with three more layouts using The Yellow Door Collection by Fancy Pants Designs. I have enjoyed creating with these beautiful bold designs this month and loved the gorgeous layouts that Kay created with this same collection earlier in the month, which you can find here.

Living in a Box, a Cardboard Box

My first layout today is a standard sized traveler’s notebook double page spread. This layout started with two elements, the photo and the house die cut from the ephemera pack. I loved the colours in the bold pattern of the Gather paper, layering it with a few scraps to make a mat for my photo.

I created an embellishment cluster to frame the bottom left of the photo. Using a die cut flag and some stickers from the sticker pack, including part of a brown label. For the right hand page I cut strips of the same papers into varying widths and placed them at the bottom of the page to create an area for the house die cut, the remainder of the brown label sticker and my title. I placed a thinner collection of these papers at the top of the page to mirror the bottom and added some scalloped borders punched from the Enjoy paper and two more of the flowers from the sticker sheet.

I added my title across the two pages, with some thickers from an older Paige Evans Pink Paislee collection. They are similar to these from the Whimsical collection. Finally I placed my typed journaling strips in the white space between the scalloped borders to complete the page.

Gwithian Sands

My second layout came together quite quickly. I started by layering the three larger scraps of paper onto a white background. Playing with the different colours and prints until I came up with a composition I liked. Next, I selected photos that I felt went well with the papers and added the pink and turquoise strips across the centre. This was because I felt the layout required some more colour.

I punched three circles from the Fall Festive paper. Which form the base for my embellishments and layered them with some labels created using some Elle’s Studio stamp sets. I added my title below my photos with some thickers and some Elle’s Studio alphabet stickers. Finishing the page off by adding my journaling strips to the bottom of the page below the title.

Cuddles with Bella

My final layout today was inspired by Pol and Julie’s use of inks in their layouts and the conversation regarding ink techniques on the Hey Little Magpie Facebook page.

I started by adding some cracked pistachio distress ink to the bottom left hand side of my page. This was where I wanted to place my photo. Next I picked some bright scraps from the collection layering them up with my photo. Making sure that the distress ink was still visible around the cluster. I added a dot pattern to the background in pickled raspberry distress ink. Using a stencil, as I wanted to bring that bright pink to another area of the page.

The big flower die cut was one of my favourite pieces from the ephemera pack. Therefore I added this with some yellow flower stickers from the sticker sheet around the photo.  I added my title using alphabet stickers to the area under the photo.

The top right of the page needed something, so I repeated the distress inks and layered up some more scraps to create a smaller cluster. I layered up two of the flowers stickers with a label and a word sticker to finish off the cluster. I finished the page by adding a nuvo dot centre to the flower stickers and three little dots next to each cluster on the page.
Thank you for joining me today, I hope you have enjoyed seeing my layouts and here is where you can find The Yellow Door collection. I will be back next month using the Shine On collection by Amy Tangerine. So until then, Happy Scrapping!
