Monthly Challenge – August 2021

Hello August, hello new monthly challenge!

My challenge to you is to use the title ‘THEN & NOW’. This can be your main title or a sub-title.

I love comparison photos. The photos in the layout above show my boys against the same mural, but taken 10 years apart. I used to take the same photo every year when they were little, but as the boys became teenagers the photos stopped. The mural is on a pier in Bangor, Northern Ireland, my husband’s home town and where his family still live so it’s a place we return to often. This year on our very last day they came for a walk with us along the pier and I asked them to let me take their photo. As you can see, one was obliging and the other not so keen!

It’s interesting to look at how things have changed – how much they’ve grown in those 10 years, how attitudes and willingness have changed. But it’s also fun to look for the similarities – the mural, one with a hood up, although not the same son, the same position (Matt on the left, Callum on the right) and the same foot turned out. The last two were totally not staged, I didn’t show them the early photo until afterwards.
