Mixing Christmas Collections | Niki Rowland

Hey Magpies, Niki here with you today and I’m using a mix of Christmas collections. I have four layouts to share today. I find that lots of Christmas collections coordinate well with other Christmas collections, even by other manufacturers as they all have similar colour palettes. It’s fun to mix collections and come up with something that looks different to the result you get by sticking to just one collection.

The collections I’ve used are: My Minds Eye Jingle All the Way, Pinkfresh Studio Holiday Vibes, Pebbles Cozy and Bright and Crate Paper Merry Days.

For this first layout I went for a ‘minimalist’ look. I’ ve put that word in quote marks becuase I’m not sure I actually achieved it!    Yes there’s lots of white space at the top of the layout but that’s one pretty full cluster at the bottom! I love to use lots of little bits on my layouts so the whole minimalist thing doesn’t always work for me! I have left a lot more white space than I would usually so it’s definitely different from my usual style and I like the effect. I picked out all the pink and red bits and snowy bits mixed with a little wodgrain. I used a Pinkfresh Studio Holiday Vibes paper for the border and a Perspextive by Bramblefox for the title.

For my second layout I’ve used a Crate Paper Merry Days border, Pinkfresh Holiday Vibes baubles and the word ‘Christmas’ is from My Minds Eye Jingle All the Way. The squirrel and elf at the bottom are Pebbles Cozy & Bright, so all four collections on one layout! I wanted those baubles to look like they were hanging down so I handstitched around them and have them strings. I need to make my paper piercing more even though as I spy a few wonky circles! Those dipped woodgrain alphas as by Pinkfresh Studio.

For this layout I’ve used all four collections again. I created the sleigh by hand-drawing it onto a piece of paper (I’m away on holiday and have no Silhouette machine!!) and then cut it out from two differet papers. I pierced holes and and handstitched. I made the presents simply by cutting squares of paper and tying thread around them. I created a long title using a mix of alphabet stickers – I’m really getting back into my alphabet stickers at the moment. For a long time I’ve made titles on my Silhouette Machine or used  ‘phrase’ Thickers but I really love the look of a custom title in lots of different colours and fonts. Those red glittery ones are years old, the woodgrain ones are by Pinkfresh, as are the teeny letters but from a previous collection.

And finally I have this layout to share, but I didn’t make it. We have Elves in our house during December, watching over the children’s behaviour and every night while we are asleep, they move and sometimes get up to some mischief. This night they took Snapchat ‘elfies’ on my phone and made a scrapbook layout!

Again they’ve used a mix of collections here and a mix of alphabet stickers to create the title and a Perspextive from Bramblefox.

Thanks so much for joining me today. I hope you enjoyed my layouts and also had a fantastic Christmas!

Happy scrapping xxx
