Hello there magpies

Here’s a fun layout bursting with colour using the fabulous Echo Park My Favourite Monster collection. Don’t let the name fool you – although it’s perfect for documenting all those cheeky boys in your life, it’s equally brilliant for capturing those mischievous little girls too! The bright colours, adorable monsters and playful patterns make it a collection you’ll reach for time and time again.

I began my layout with a sheet of white cardstock to create a clean background that would really allow the colourful papers and embellishments to shine. To add a little personality, I created a mixed media background using inks along with some stamping and stencilling. These subtle layers add texture and interest without overwhelming the design. Before mounting the cardstock onto one of the patterned papers from the collection, I inked around the edges to help define the page and create a soft frame.

For my photos, I mounted them onto papers from the coordinating 6×6 paper pad. I also fussy cut the centre from one of the decorative frame pieces, allowing it to become the perfect photo frame while making the most of every element in the collection.

To create movement across the page, I used the Hey Little Magpie Border Dies to cut lots of decorative strips from patterned papers. These were layered into three clusters across the layout, helping to guide the eye from one area to the next while adding plenty of dimension and colour.

I finished embellishing with a mixture of trims from my stash and a few favourites rescued from older Hey Little Magpie embellishment kits. The adorable ephemera from the sticker book, together with the coordinating puffy stickers, were tucked into each cluster to build lots of playful detail without overcrowding the page.

The finishing touch had to be one of the exclusive Hey Little Magpie acrylic titles. It complements both the collection and my photos perfectly, adding a bold focal point that ties everything together, I’ve also added a cute patch out my stash but these will be coming to the store soon so get looking out for those as they are a fab addition to your pages.
