Merry Merry | Simple Stories Hearth and Holiday | Amy Kattenbelt
Hello Magpies, Amy here sharing another festive layout. I’m using the Simple Stories “Hearth and Holiday” collection. If you haven’t already spotted it in the Hey Little Magpie store, you can find it all here.
Merry Merry
Along with the Hearth and Holiday collection I am also using an Amelia Creates cut file. These are exclusive to Hey Little Magpie and available to purchase as either a downloadable file if you are lucky enough to own your own cutting machine, or else you can buy a physical cut out cardboard piece that is posted to you. Simply select the required option in their shop. I’ve used the cut file design title “Merry Merry” which has a cut holly sprig too.
I have used some Shimmerz Inklings to paint the cutfile to add some shiny colour. I used Mine Miner 49er, a beautiful gold, for the text and added Holly and The Ivy green and Naughty or Nice pinkish red for the leaves and berries. I backed the second Merry outlines words with one of the papers from the collection called “Spreading Cheer“.
With my title ready to go, I decided to use the paper called “Merry Christmas To All” as my background. This worked great because of the colour and the design. I liked that the blue background was different to the colours in the rest of my layout.
I cut two tags out of the tag paper called “Tags“, and matted my two photos onto them. These were tucked above the title. I added some twine to the tags for some texture.
I used some of the die cuts from the “Bits and Pieces” pack to decorate my layout, adding them to either side of the tag as well as around the title. I used foam pads for some of these to add dimension. I also added two JD3D Print Christmas Sparkle pieces to the tops of my ephemera Christmas trees to be stars. Lastly I decided I wanted to ‘frame’ my layout, so I carefully trimmed the background paper down by about 4mm on each side and then mounted it onto the paper called “Holiday Memories“.
Thanks for coming to read about my layout in more detail. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and I will be back in the New Year to share some more festive layouts.
Take Care,
