Merry Christmas | Simple Stories – Hearth and Holidays | Amy Kattenbelt

Hello Magpies, Amy here today sharing a festive layout with you. I’ve decided to use Simple Stories Hearth & Holiday collection. I have to admit I do love the more traditional Christmas collections, full of reds and greens, Holly, Trees and Father Santas. This collection certainly fits my taste.

Merry Christmas

I started my layout by creating a mixed media background. You may have spotted by now that Hey Little Magpie are now stocking Shimmerz products. I had great fun playing with some Inklings.

I picked a pale blue hue called ‘Me & Blue‘ which matches well with this collection. After activating the inklingz with water and letting it sit for a minutes, I used the packaging technique to create a rough circle shape onto a thick piece of white cardstock.

When this was dry, I used two more Inklingz: a green called “Holly & The Ivy” and a pinkish red called “Naughty or Nice” to add some splatters to my background.

I then used a darker blue thread and machine stitched some circles for extra texture.

I matted my 3″x4″ photo onto some of the green patterned paper from the collection pack. I then added lots of die cuts from the floral pack along my circular stitching to form a sort of wreath.

I used a lovely “Merry Christmas” title piece by JD3D Prints, along with some of their sparkles.

I added two of the Hey Little Magpie flair from the “Believe in Magic” set. They are absolutely awesome and really add something special to my layout.

Lastly I trimmed my back cardstock and layered it into two more of the patterned papers, a blue check pattern that goes with my mixed media, and the border of diagonal stripes which just shouts Christmas to me. The borders add some more colour and a boundary to stop your eye wandering off the layout.
