Maggie Holmes Marigold – Part Two | Amy Kattenbelt

Hello Magpies, Amy here sharing another two layouts using the beautiful Marigold collection by Maggie Holmes. This time I have been scrapbooking some of my old childhood photos.

Nana, Grandad and Me

My first layout used the striped paper called Dream Big. I love striped paper, especially multi coloured ones like this one. For this layout I went with a triangular design which is pretty popular right now. I cut three triangles from the patterned paper, paying attention to which way I wanted the stripes to run. The edges were distressed, and then I used the black patterned paper called Nostalgia to cut more triangles just slightly larger. These edges were also distressed, and the triangles layered beneath the striped one, so they just peeped though adding some definition and contrast.

Once my three main triangle areas were in place, I turned to the Petal Flowers Washi Tape. If you haven’t see this new style of product yet, I have to tell you its amazing! It is basically a roll of precut washi petals, as well as some flower centres and leaves too. You unpeel the petals, and starting with the largest, layer them around in a circle. Placing the smaller flowers overlapping on top until you reach the middle and then finish with the centre washi piece. You can then tuck some of the leaves behind your flower. Its so awesome as you can control the exact size of the flowers, the fullness of them and also where the leaves are positioned. In my example layout I was able to place the leaves exactly where I wanted them in relation to my triangles. You can make plenty of flowers from each roll.

Next, I created my title using the gold puffy alpha stickers, called Delightful. I did use up all my letter ‘a’s creating this long title, but that’s no problem as I just ordered a second pack! It was totally worth it as the title is very much integral to the design. I also added the year the photo was taken to one of the flower clusters at the bottom of the page.

To finish the layout I had fun adding cute little puffy stickers, some gold puffy outlines stickers and some sparkly gems.

The background of my fourth layout uses the ledger paper called Natural Beauty. I fussy cut a whole sheet of the black and white outline flowers from the Stay True paper. My advise is, if you enjoy fussy cutting florals you may want to purchase several sheets of this paper as its simply stunning and because its black and white, the flowers will work on any layout.

I cut three blocks of patterned paper, a pink, a blue and a yellow ochre colour. Using my sewing machine I stitched around the edges of each block before attaching them to the background. Dont glue them right up to the edges, as this will allow you to then go ahead and tuck in all those fussy cut flowers right the way around the block of papers. Cut the larger flowers in half and use them either side to get extra value for money.

I then layered up several pieces of ephemera from the Die Cut pack, including some of the tags which I added twine too.

Next I placed my photo on top of this cluster with foam tape to add a little dimension. I then added the pink bow and the orange puffy stickers from the Embossed Puffy Sticker pack.

I finished off the layout with a few stickers from the 6×12 sticker sheet, and a title using the same gold puffy alphas as my other layout. Isn’t the little pink bird adorable.
