Maggie Holmes Garden Party | Sheena Rowlands
Hi there Magpies, Sheena here again x
This month I’m sharing layouts featuring the lovely American Crafts range, Maggie Holmes Garden Party. I love the soft colours in this range and also it’s a large range so plenty to tempt you.
For my first layout I focused on the Garden Party – Garden Stroll patterned paper and firstly cut it up into individual pieces and distressed the edges of them all.
Using the B side of the Garden Party – Blooming patterned paper as my base I started placing the cut pieces at the top and bottom, overlapping each other. Some I machine stitched through for added texture. When I was happy with their placement I started to adhere them down using foam pads to raise a few as I went.
I matted my square photo on 2 coordinating patterned papers and attached it to the background in the gap. Using chipboard, stickers and puffy stickers I added embellishments to some of the pieces all on an afternoon tea theme to go with my photo. I mounted the Garden Party puffy accent sticker – Sweet on to cardstock and fussy cut it out as my title.
You Are So Loved.
For my second layout I knew I wanted to concentrate on the pinks/ black /white papers in this range to compliment my vintage photo of my Mum & her Sister. Using Garden Party – Sown patterned paper as my base and using white crochet thread I sewed a rough grid shape onto the base paper weaving the threads in and out.
All the flowers from the speciality vellum paper were fussy cut out and from another of the patterned papers to use them as embellishments. Using the Garden Party ephemera I added layers behind my photo and tags to the left side. I then tucked in both paper and vellum flowers and leaves spilling onto the photo.
I finished with threading my tags, die cuts for my title and a chipboard bow.
I hope these layouts inspire you to check out this lovely range. Do share with us over on our Facebook group your creations as we love to see them.
Till next time x
