Loving the B-side

Hi Magpies, Julie back with you again today & this month I chose to use Bella Blvd ‘oh my stars’, a lovely collection with lots of primary colours all decorated with stars but the B-sides of the papers have really gorgeous black & white patterns & some with pops of colour which is what I wanted to use.
For my first layout ‘ Llama Love’ I wanted to use all the black & white papers, so tore some strips off & layered them down the left hand side of the page adding in bits of washi, crepe paper & a doily. I added all this onto the B-side of the 4×6 cards paper, which is white with multi coloured words on it, adding a pop of colour. I put my photos in a grid & sewed around them a few times to add a border. I also sewed, backwards & forwards underneath the word Llama, which came from the fundamentals stickers, in multi colours to match the wording. The ‘love’ & hearts came from the cardstock die-cuts, & I finished the page with a few tucked in tabs & some black ink splatters.

For my second layout ‘ today Fun’ I also wanted to use the black & white papers but with a bit more colour added. I found this die cut ‘today’ on my desk, that I’d cut ages ago & backed it with all the black & white papers. I then used my gelatos to scribble a rough oblong on my page & blended it using a touch of water. I added some texture paste, through a stencil, some word stamps in black & plenty of ink splatters over the page. I then again sewed around my painted oblong, but this time in coloured thread. I backed my photos in a few papers & added that to the centre of the oblong & added the paper at an angle to the guacamole stars paper & sewed in places tucking in tabs, washi & sayings from the cardstock die cuts. The title I added vertically on the left & I couldn’t help but add that cute little panda at the bottom right

My final layout seemed to take me forever but I love the result of it. I decided to embrace the stars papers & use them all on one page & so I went for this, an explosion of stars, all coming out from more stars…. star overload J I first put loads of splatters onto black cardstock & then I cut loads of the star explosions in various sizes & colours & backed them with more star paper in different colours. I added these to the black cardstock & sewed them down using gold thread, adding pop dots behind some of them to give some dimension. I then just kept adding more stars, at different levels until I was happy with the result. I matted the photo & added that on top of the large stars on the bottom left & added a small cluster at the top right. A few enamel stars, scattered around, finished off the page.

I hope you’ll agree this is a very versatile collection which can be full of colour or not, however you chose, pop into the shop now to check it out. Until next time, xoxo
