Loving Pink
Of all the colours in the rainbow , I reckon pink has to be one of the most symbolic in terms of girls but as I’ve got two boys , I’m not averse to using it on male layouts too as these show.
It had to be hearts for Valentine’s month. This first layout was a ‘labour of love’ ( pun intended) as a friend of mine commented when she saw me painstakingly piecing together each tiny 1/2″ square at our monthly crop! There are just over 100 squares cut from 3 separate sheets of pink patterned paper – all re-aasembled to look like a a pixelated heart.
Some have been raised on foam squares and some have been removed and replaced with white squares to give the impression of a scattering of pixels in the top right corner.
I drew up a sketch template to identify the perfect placing for each of the squares and then got busy with my square punch, tweezers and glue pen and an extra large dose of patience. If you’re going to have a go my tip would be to start in the middle and work out , that way you get the heart placed in the centre. I drew just 2 pencil sketch lines on the card stock for guidance – both central axes. If you’d like me to forward the plan to you and have the patience of a saint just leave a comment below !
Who wasn’t love a good ephemera pack ? Pink Paislee’s C’est La Vie collection has the prefect mix – frames, acetates and paper pieces all in luscious colours. I used a cut apart from their printed acetate sheet and went to town with stamps in co-ordinating colours .
Love , love love their brick and gold chipboard alpha.
And I love the acetate cut-apart sheet as you can stamp underneath and it shows through.
Last – a bit of home decor. Found this frame in the supermarket ( with the orange plastic carriers bags in case I’m not allowed to mention ! ) and thought it would be perfect for different celebrations. I’ve also already used it to hang fortune cookies and Chinese New Year lucky envelopes from and I can see it coming in handy at Easter and Christmas. I’ve hung nine little cards from each of the pegs and called it ‘ Nine Reasons Why I Love you ‘ … of course there are many more but space only allowed for nine !
The acetate numbers from the ephemera pack were perfect and also all of the little cut-aparts from the 6″x 6″ pad. I printed the phrases onto white card stock on my laser printer and fed them through my Minc which is my all time best investment machine EVER ( certainly beats the bread machine which has been lurking at the back of a kitchen cupboard for the last decade ! ) .
