Love Hearts
Hi there x I’m Sheena & I’m thrilled to be here today. It ‘s a really special day for me, as it’s my first blog post as a member of Hey Little Magpie’s Creative team & it’s also my birthday.
I am generally a clean & neat scrapper but I would really like to be more messy style wise but I can get a little freaked out by mists & paint but recently I have developed a love of masks & stencils which really help me bring mists & paint to my pages in a controlled way that I love.
For this page I used this 12 x 12 Hearts Stencil from American Crafts over the top of the b side of Basic Grey-High Line Happy Days paper and lightly misted it with Mr Huey Warm Calico. I usually do this with the paper & mask in a 12×12 pizza box to minimise the mess to my craft space. The stencil is really strong & sturdy & cleans up well with warm soapy water. I’ve clustered my photo with layered embellishments in the corner including a doily, journaling card, Studio Calico wood veneer and Chic tags paper geotag plus some other American Crafts embellishments.
The title & foam hearts came from Amy Tan’s Plus One range. The title was matted on to a scrap of cardstock to give it more definition from the photo & make it easier for me to place it in a position I was happy with.
Some of the masked hearts were highlighted with foam heart and sequins, plus hand stitching and journalling using a fine nibbed pen following the shape of the hearts which I drew lightly in pencil beforehand.
On this page I’ve used a holiday photo of my husband & I but you could easily focus on anything you (heart)… cupcakes, children, pets, hobbies… this heart stencil would suit them all.
