All About the Love

Hi Magpies,
Julie with you today and I’m all about the love this month, the love of a partner, the love for a child, and the ultimate love, a wedding!!! This month I chose to work with the collection, Life Emporium by Teresa Collins, which is a lovely neutral collection, with touches of pink, navy and gold running through it. Also, the papers are beautifully textured. I added a few papers from Jen Hadfield Home + Made, and a gorgeous Vellum Pack from Cosmo Cricket.
My first layout is about the love for a partner. My husband and myself have been married for 21 years (!) and I wanted to remember the occasion in a layout. I stitched on my layout the words: ‘You will forever be my always.’
I distressed the edges of the paper by inking them, spraying them with water, and then rolling them inwards. The water helps to soften the paper so it can be rolled easier and when dry, it keeps its shape. I layered the photo together with some of the papers, and added some rub ons and gold spray around the photo. I also added a frame from Crate Paper – Notes & Things, and then backed it with the gold heart vellum.
My second layout is about how lovely my daughter looks in this photo. The bottom half of the layout is paper by Jen Hadfield Home + Made, which is a lovely printed kraft. The top half of the layout is Teresa Collins Tinsel & Company, which goes lovely with the Life Emporium Collection. I used some of the rub-ons from the Life Emporium, which go on brilliantly. I die cut and punched lots of flowers and leaves out of some vellum and the Life Emporium paper, then layered them in a cluster, going down towards the right hand corner.
I added buttons and wood dots from the Life Emporium range, and also gold enamel dots and sequins from Studio Calico. I cut my title on my cameo, then sprayed it with Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Gold.
Lastly, I did a project to give as a present, to my friends, who recently got married. Using some water colour paper, I cut it to the size of the frame, and using some stencils, I added both white and gold embossing paste over the background. I applied some Mr Huey’s Watercolours, and some splatters of Heidi Swapps color shine in gold. I again die cut and punched out leaves, feathers and hearts, then clustered them around the photo. I used some of the gold heart vellum behind the photo, and made a bow using the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Style Board – Die Set.
The charm attached to the bow is from the wine glasses at the wedding. We were allowed to keep them, and I thought it would be a nice reminder of a lovely day.
I have loved using this collection, and although I have chosen to keep my three projects very neutral, this collection would work well with all sorts of other papers you may already have.
Until next time
