Lockdown Birthday | Jo Boland
Hello! I thought I’d use Crate Paper’s Magical Forest collection for a lockdown birthday layout about my son’s 17th birthday. I chose the bluey grey star paper called Always, I LOVE this paper! It’s layered with a strip of Sunlight paper, I distressed the edges of both and adhered them to a sheet of white cardstock.
Next I built up the photo cluster, popping up the top edges of the photos by tucking chipboard sticker pieces underneath and using foam pads. I placed a lovely chipboard banner sticker along the bottom edge and a camera to the left. To the right I added a kite and star. The thickers are what I had in my stash from last years ‘Hey Pumpkin’ Halloween collection by Crate Paper. I used the numbers 1 and 7 from the pack to go on the dotty chipboard tag for Matt’s age.
I’ve used puffy stickers too, the speech bubbles to the right side, the circle star and star on the left, plus the heart in the centre of the lens.
The sentiment on the blue chipboard speech bubble didn’t work with my layout. I took it as an opportunity to cover it with some typed journaling about Matt’s lockdown birthday.
I wanted to have a longer title, however the thickers would have been too big. So I pulled out some old black October Afternoon letter stickers from my stash and stuck them at the top. Finally, I placed a chipboard label at the bottom of the layout, wrote the date and added a little puffy star to match the other two mustard stars on the layout. Simple Stories do a fabulous range of coloured thickers and stickers which you can find here.
Here’s the layout in full again.
You can find all of the Magical Forest collection by Crate Paper in the Hey Little Magpie shop here.
Thanks for stopping by, see you again later in the month,
