Little Things Scrapbook layout – June Embellishment Kit – Wendy Meffan
The June Embellishment Kit from Hey Little Magpie is packed with gorgeous textures and unique details, making it the perfect starting point for this coffee-themed scrapbook layout. To complement the kit, I paired it with the beautiful Simple Vintage Junk Drawer collection from Simple Stories, whose warm tones and vintage-inspired designs worked perfectly with my photos.
For this layout, I chose two coffee-themed photographs, making the adorable coffee cup paper clip from the kit a natural focal embellishment. Sometimes a single embellishment can inspire an entire design, and that was definitely the case here!
I began by positioning a vertical acetate film strip down the page, using it as the foundation for my composition. The film strip creates a strong visual line and provided the perfect place to anchor my photos and embellishments. From there, I built layers around it using ephemera pieces from the collection, tucking elements behind and around the photographs to create depth and interest.
One of my favourite things about the June kit is the variety of textures included. I incorporated the braid and woven patches into my clusters, adding a tactile element that contrasts beautifully with the paper layers. I also included several of the acrylic and wooden embellishments, which help bring extra dimension and personality to the page.
To balance the design, I created mixed media details in two opposite corners of the layout. Using the Artful Layers stencil from 49 and Market, I applied texture paste before adding coordinating inks over the top. This subtle background detail frames the layout beautifully and helps draw the eye across the page.
The combination of vintage-inspired papers, layered ephemera, and the wonderful assortment of embellishments from the June Hey Little Magpie kit came together perfectly. The finished layout captures a cosy coffee moment while showcasing the beautiful textures and creative possibilities included in this month’s kit.
