Little Things | Julie Taylor | June Embellishment Kit layout
Hello there Magpies,
There are some collections that feel as though they were made just for you, and this month’s June Embellishment Kit was definitely one of those for me! If you know me, you’ll know that coffee is one of my favourite little treats, so creating with this kit was an absolute joy from start to finish.
As the foundation for my layout, I chose the gorgeous 49 and Market Country Heart Café collection. The warm colours, cosy patterns and coffee-inspired designs were the perfect complement to the embellishments in the kit, creating a layout that feels inviting and full of personality.
To add extra texture and interest, I created a mixed media background using 49 and Market inks with a coffee ring stencil. I couldn’t resist using these inks—not only do they blend beautifully, but I also love that they all have fabulous coffee-inspired names! The subtle coffee rings help reinforce the theme without overpowering the page.
Next, I layered several patterned paper strips through the centre of the layout before adding hand stitching with one of the stitching templates included in the kit. The stitching brings lovely detail and texture while helping to draw the eye towards my focal point.
I then positioned my two photos on top of the layered papers and had so much fun embellishing around them using the June Embellishment Kit along with a few extra pieces of ephemera from the collection. Building up clusters around the photos added dimension and helped balance the design while highlighting my favourite coffee moments.
I absolutely love how this layout came together. The combination of the June Embellishment Kit and the beautiful 49 and Market Country Heart Café collection was a perfect match, making this one of those pages that came together naturally and was such a pleasure to create.
