Life’s A Zoo | Into The Wild – Simple Stories | Amy Kattenbelt
Hiya, Amy here to share another layout using Simple Stories “Into The Wild” collection. As with my post a few weeks ago, I have used a sketch as inspiration. This time I am using the sketch I designed for this months Hey Little Magpie monthly challenge. Keep reading until the end of this post for more information about that!
Life’s A Zoo
I tried to limit the supplies I used to create this layout to make it budget friendly if you fancy copying my ideas. I used the Page Pieces as the basis of my layout. If you haven’t seen them before, they are a great little pack that usually contains a title piece, some phrase die cuts and some large ephemera pieces from the collection, plus a nice selection of smaller pieces too. I used the following supplies to create this layout…
Simple Stories – Into The Wild – Page Pieces
Simple Stories – Into The Wild – 6×8 Paper Pad (or you could use 3 12×12 patterned papers of the same design but larger scale)
Simple Stories – Into The Wild – 12×12 Patterned Paper “Tags”
Distress Oxide – Mowed Lawn
Vicki Boutin – Sweet Rush – Tropical Leaves Stencil
White Cardstock
EK Success – 3/16″ Circle Punch
From my own supplies I added some pink and brown wool, some small alphabet stamps, a date stamp, black ink, an ink blender tool, foam dots and a star punch.
Here is a reminder of the sketch that I am using.
I started my layout by stencilling the background area using the green Mowed Lawn ink and the Vicki Boutin Stencil. I picked two pf the patterned papers from the 6×8 pad, and tore squares, then layered them together. I picked a 3rd paper from the pad, and I ripped lengths then pieced them together at the top and bottom of my layout. You cant easily see the join, so this is a great way to use your paper pads too.
I tucked alol the leaf ephemera around the patterned papers, and also fussy cut two of the tags from the 12×12 paper. The 3/16″ circle punch is a perfect fit for the Simple Stories tag papers. I added wool to to the tags for texture and tucked them under the papers.
I placed my three little photos, as per my sketch. I then added my favourite items, the animal ephemera pieces. I also added the title piece in the same place as my sketch shows. Instead of the banner in the top right corner I added some floral ephemera. Instead of adding word to the frames around the photos, I punched three stars out of the branding strip of the tag 12×12 paper. I used foam dots in a few places to give some dimension. Lastly I stamped my journalling under the title.
Thanks for coming to take a closer look at how I created this layout. So for more details about how you can join in with my sketch challenge, see this blog post here.
