Life is…Better Together
Hi Magpies, Julie back with you today using the new Amy Tan collection Better Together. It’s a very colourful collection, which I’ve highlighted in my first layout but can also be used as a more subtle colour palette, as I show in my other two layouts.
First up is ‘crazy is better together’ using some mad photos of my family J The background paper is the B side of near+ far paper which I inked, using the smooching technique, in a few different colours & added a few splatters. I then cut some rectangles from soap + water paper, bow + arrow paper & a couple of pieces from the 6×6 paper pad. I layered these up at the top & to the left of the page. I stamped the acrylic postcard stamp on some white paper & cut out & glued that at an angle at the top, over the layers. I then stitched a double line in black all around the layers to highlight them. I made photo clusters for both photos using papers from the 6×6 paper pad & added a bit of tissue paper for texture & glued these down at an angle adding foam to one of them. To finish the page I added a couple of bits from the 6×12 accent & phrase stickers, acetate die cut ephemera & the title, which is you + me foam thickers
My second layout ‘Hello Clive’ is to welcome our new rabbit into our family. My youngest daughter works at the RSPCA & has been badgering me for months to get another rabbit & I finally relented & we got two!!! Will do a layout about Dotty another time. As you can see this layout is nowhere near as loud as the first one as I only choose a limited colour palette to work with. I’m also working with the new 9×12 size, which I really love. I first smooched some yellow ink over some white cardstock & added some turquoise dots through a stencil. I then picked out some letters I had left over from my Christmas post & used those to prick around to sew the word ‘hello’. I layered some papers as a photo mat & put my photo on foam tape. The acetate ‘love this dude’ is from the die cut ephemera pack & so suits this page. I used a strip of black & white, from my stash, at the top of the page together with a few ripped pieces of paper & labels. To finish I added the date, a few cute hearts & a couple of phrases from the rotary phrase stamp.
My third layout ‘cute’ is again in the 9×12 size & is all about this adorable photo of my little dog Riley. My daughter took this photo & I loved it so much I had to scrap it, he’s actually asking to come up onto her lap, so sweet. The background paper is the B side of cut + paste paper & I added a smaller piece of embossed white cardstock on top of it. I cut the word ‘cute’ on my silhouette & backed them with papers from the 6×6 paper pad, choosing the yellow, pink & orange tones. I stitched those to the layout & added my photo, again on a paper cluster, to the right of the letters, I punched a few hearts in the pink & yellow papers & also in white & I added those to the page & put the white on the top & stitched them down so the edges could be lifted up & you only see a glimpse of the colour. I again added some torn paper & labels to the edges & some of the cute phrases.
I hope you have enjoyed my layouts today, until next time, xoxo
