Life is Sweet – Pink Fresh Studio – Happy Blooms – Wendy Meffan
Hi Everyone! It’s August and I’m back on the blog again and this month I’m using the Happy Blooms Collection from Pink Fresh Studio. I just couldn’t wait to get started with this beautiful collection. It has so many beautiful papers in gorgeous colours so I decided to make a patch work effect on my first layout to really show off a selection of the papers.
I chose four different papers from the 6×6 paper pad and cut them into 3″ squares and distressed the edges. I arranged them over the page and then machine stitched in straight stitch and zigzag stitch.
I matted the photos on papers from the 6×6 paper pad and raised them on sticky fixers. I used one of the tags from the journalling bits as a template and created a second one, I distressed the edges and tucked them in behind the photos.
I’v noticed recently the trend of paper folding on layouts and I’ve never done this myself unless instructed in a class. I have loved the flower effect which I first saw by Paige Taylor Evans so decided to create three large floral shaped for this layout. I cut several small 2.5″ squares and then cut them into triangles and folded them. I then glued them onto a circular piece of card to hold them all together and create the flower shape. I repeated this process twice more and made the final flower larger. i added a clear rhinestone to the centre of each.
I arranged the three florals around the layout.
I then added some banners from the die cut ephemera. a piece of floral ephemera and then punched a butterfly which I added between the photos.
I kept this layout quite simple as the folded flowers really speak for themselves.
LAYOUT 2
Recently I tried growing some sweet peas and having seen the beautiful colours of this collection I realised my photos of them were the perfect. It also enabled me to document my attempt at growing flowers!
When I started this layout I had four photos I wanted to use so I decided to create a film strip in the lilac floral 12×12 paper called Garden. I decided to make a mixed media back ground using distress oxides and then I used a small flower stencil with white texture paste over the top. i made the film strip the central focus of the layout and then made clusters around it.
I trimmed some of the white edges off the floral ephemera and then added a combination of the die cut ephemera, puffy stickers and I cut some of the stamps from the 12×12 garden paper.
I added a gorgeous Bramble Fox arrow perspextive and used the mini puffy alphabet stickers for the words ‘sweet peas’.
I completed the layout with a few ink splatters and some enamel dots.
I have so enjoyed this collection and as I often say the the more I use a collection the more I love it!
Please do post your layouts in the Hey Little Magpie Chat and Inspiration Facebook page as we love to see your creations.
Until the end of the month ….Happy Scrapping!
