Let’s Wander 2 – Vicki Boutin | Sheena Rowlands

I’ve had this wonderful Lets Wander range by Vicki Boutin for American Crafts on my desk for the past week, if you haven’t seen it I’d recommend you check it out in the shop. It may be a travel type range but it is certainly suitable for lots of types of photos.

I wanted to use this mixed media background with its night sky feel from the Lets Wander 12×12 Mixed Media paper pad. Originally I was going to use some sunset photos that I had but then decided I thought it would be perfect for these photos taken at an outside concert. None of these photos are great but by printing them small that does’t matter so much and still gives the feel of the event.
I took a piece of foundations paper and swiped over it in stripes with Oxide Inks in similar colours to the background paper. I spritzed it with water and allowed it to dry. Using the lets Wander stamp and die set I cut stars from this inked cardstock then stamped and embossed them with gold embossing powder.
To cut the open stars I used 2 of the dies at the same time, one inside the other. I then layered the stars over the background guided by their colour. I formed 3 clusters with them around the photos. I finished the page with ephemera strips. I added my journalling on the back of the layout so I could remember the bands & artists we had seen.
