Kiss Kiss – Not just for Valentine's Day!

Welcome to March Magpies! Rachel here with 5 LO’s for you and this month I chose to use the gorgeous Kiss Kiss line from Crate Paper. I am usually such a bright and bold colour scrapbooker but I have been loving the more muted colour palette that Crate Paper has been offering lately. It started with Notes & Things, I just loved that whole entire line and I could throw together LO’s in no time using it. Then I spotted Kiss Kiss and I knew I needed it and it would work so well with Notes & Things and the Maggie Holems lines. I can not wait to get my hands on the new Maggie Holmes line, Confetti, or the new Craft Market line either, they are top of my shopping list as soon as they arrive to the shop for sure!
So I basically ordered the whole line from Kiss Kiss. I got a few bits at first, then ordered more and then went the whole hog and ordered the rest! My favourite bits are the Layered Tags and the Resin Candy Hearts, they’re both lush!
My first LO is a Valentines Day LO. I thought I’d get it out of the way first up lol! I don’t usually do Valentines or Christmas LO’s because I’m useless at taking photos. But I really wanted to use the large Happy Valentine’s Day title from the 12×12 Chipboard Accents sheet and this year, I was so lucky and got pneumonia and a blood clot in my lung for Valentines! I had been sick for about 3 weeks and never got any better so I ended up at the hospital and got diagnosed with a PE and pneumonia and got antibiotics and blood thinning injections so I took a photo of my drugs, just so I could use the title! I’ve done a bit of a grid on this LO using the Forever Paper, the B sides of the In Love and Love Life papers. I also used a couple of the cut-off strips from some of the papers, above and at the bottom as well as a strip of the XOXO paper (B side of the Forever Paper). I placed the title over a gold vellum heart from the Cardstock & Vellum Ephemera Diecuts.

I created some clusters of embellishments. For this one I used my circles punches to punch a small circle and then a larger one around it, to create a frame, from the same cardstock I printed my journalling on. The Happy Valentine’s Day banner is from the Layered Tags pack and the small heart and arrow are from the 12×12 Chipboard Accents sheet.

I printed my journalling on strips of pink cardstock. I set it up in Photoshop using Mom’s Typewriter font, printed it on plain paper first and cut the strips out to make sure they fit properly. Then I re-printed on a sheet of cardstock. I used Herma to adhere them and then added a gold brad on each side.

For my next LO I wanted to prove that Kiss Kiss is not all about the pink! To be honest, it was quite hard, there is a lot of pink in the collection (and that’s one of the reasons I love it) but I think I managed it. I did cheat here and added in some other papers, there is a crumpled vellum in the background which I think came from the original Maggie Holes collection and on top of the vellum, I used a striped sheet of mint paper which again, I think came from a Maggie Holmes collection. Then I’ve layered up papers and a lot of embellishments. My title is from the 12×12 Chipboard Accents sheet and I’ve added some wooden arrows from the pack of Printed Wood Veneer Shapes.

I layered up lots of embellishments down the side of the photo, using word & heart stickers from the Journalling & Title Stickers sheet, the striped heart and small gold tag is from the Cardstock & Vellum Ephemera Diecuts pack and the layered Kiss Kiss banner at the very bottom is from the Layered Tags pack.

My third LO is not my cat, it’s a picture of another Devon Rex in the colouring I wanted but I ended up with a grey smoke one (as seen above lol!) cause that’s what was born in the next litter and I didn’t want to wait for another litter to see if a nude coloured one would arrive! Of course we love what we’ve got but it doesn’t stop me admiring the nude ones and hankering after one 😉
I layered up a load of papers from the 6×6 paper pad for this one, and used some of the leftovers on my desk. My title is done using a word from a pack of word Thickers from the Dear Lizzy Serendipity collection and some older Thickers from my collection.

I did the same as the LO above here, used some of the word stickers from the Journalling & Title Stickers down the side of the photo, the wooden heart embellishment is from the Standouts Layered Stickers sheet, the sweetheart banner is from the Layered Tags pack and the wooden arrow at the bottom is from the Printed Wood Veneer Shapes pack.

San Francisco is just amazing, I can not wait to return there and have a proper look around one day. I loved the mix of pink and turquoise in the building on the right hand side of the photo so I used those colours in my LO. I used some of the leftover vellum I’d used on the black LO above cause it was still lying on my desk. I just layered up some papers for this one, I love to make a pile of different papers, I don’t mind if you can’t even see the paper properly because it all adds to the overall design in the end. I’ve created clusters of embellishments as usual, I love to do that and like to have the clusters touching the photo because it helps to anchor everything to the page and make sure things aren’t floating and looking a bit lost. If you’ve ever got something like a sticker that you can’t decide where to stick it down, you can always stick it to the tip of a ruler so you can hover it over the LO and see where it looks the best. Or if you have something larger (like the large ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ chipboard title I used in the top LO) , I sometimes stick it to a piece of clear acetate from old packaging and then you can lay it on the LO and eyeball where looks perfect, before you remove the acetate and adhere.

For my title, I used one of the gorgeous Layered Tags that says Love, and then some older Thickers from my collection, they just happened to be the perfect colour match! I’ve also layered up some of the vellum die cuts from the Cardstock & Vellum Ephemera pack and the pink heart gems I’ve used on this LO, also come from that pack.

My last LO is actually the first I did with Kiss Kiss. It’s just a whole mash of layers of paper from the 6×6 pad and loads of embellishments. I went a bit crazy on this one! The main embellishments are the gold glitters banner at the top of the photo and that comes from the 12×12 Chipboard Accents sheet and it’s super lush with very thick glitter. Also the second ‘love’ banner with the tiny clothespins at either end is from the Standouts Layered Stickers pack and I must say, I had to add extra foam pads to the backs of this to make it stick cause the two tiny ones on either peg just weren’t enough.

Here’s a close-up of the clothespin love banner. I added that over the top of one of the Layered Tags which has a small ‘love’ tag sewn on already and then I added another love sticker from the Journalling & Title Stickers sheet cause I wanted the title to say Love, love, love spring flowers. I added the words spring flowers with Thickers from my collection.

I loved using the Kiss Kiss collection and I may even see what I can do with all the offcuts and leftovers I have in a pile on my desk. I do like to layer them all up and see if I can use them all and it’s an easy way to create an extra LO! Now does anyone have a good Valentines Day story? I hope you had a better time of it than me? Let me know in the comments if you have a good story to tell, I’d love to hear it!
