Just Lovely – Maggie Holmes – Market Square – Wendy Meffan

Hi Magpies! it’s Wendy here and I’m so excited to share my layouts this month as I have waited since November for this gorgeous Maggie Holmes Market Square Collection  to arrive due to issues with shipping. It really is a stunning collection and coordinates well with previous collections so I will be able to mix and match it with older stash in the future. I had no idea what photos I would used until last weekend whilst out driving I saw this beautiful pillar box cover and I knew it would work so well with the colours in this collection.

To start my layout I decided to use layering so matted my photo on three different papers from the 6×8 paper pad, I specifically picked out the limey yellow stripes as it brought out the colours in the crocheted cover. Having thought about the positioning of the photo on the layout i then made a mixed media background using distress oxides. I mixed broken chime with mustard seed to get my colour.

I had chosen to use the two 12×12 cut apart sheets and went straight in and cut them up into all their different sections, this gives me more choice for embellishing on the layout, I picked out the vintage fields tag and used the big magic card from the ephemera pack and placed them to the right of the photo to start designing the layout. I distressed their edges. In the 6×8 paper pad there is a gorgeous piece of embossed gold paper covered in flowers I fussy cut a few out to dot around the layout.

There is a gorgeous set of epoxy paper clips in the collection which are a must have so I chose the one with the rose along with a chipboard strawberry to embellishments this side of the latyout.

In the ephemera pack there are two large flowers which I pulled out and being the yellow/lime colour and matched perfectly with the colours of the photo. I then chose some pieces from the cut apart sheet and made a cluster  using all of these pieces. Finally I added the pink chipboard camera over the top. Distressing the edges of all the pieces and using foam pads to adhere them gives a beautiful dimension and layering to the layout.

I focussed to the left of the layout and picked one of the tags and a ticket from one of  the cut apart sheets and then made another one from paper in the 6×8 paper pad , I added twine to them and tucked them under the photo,  I raised the top of the tags on sticky fixers. I chose a frame and the cute little bird from the ephemera pack and along with a chipboard sticker attached them along side.

I was happy with what I had created but felt the top right of the layout needed something to fill some of the white space. I created another cluster using fussy cut pieces, and chipboard stickers a gold heart sticker from a previous collection.

The ‘Lovely ‘ Title is also sticker from a previous Maggie Holmes Collection, I finished using white gesso splatters across the layout.
