Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers
Hey there! Niki here today with three layouts using the Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers. These gorgeous pens/paint brushes come in a few different sets. There are a set of 12 colours which are the main set, plus there are other smaller sets: Celestial Sky, Shimmering Sky, Shipwrecked, Sun-Bleached. I was working with the main set, Celestial Sky and Shimmering Sky. The ‘shimmering’ sets contain some pens that are glittery.
This first layout is leftover from Christmas (obviously!) and I sketched the title on my Silhouette using my sketch pens. I then coloured in the words using the mermaid markers. I mixed some of the colours together on a craft sheet to get the right shades. I also mixed them with some of my regular water colour paints to get more shades. They mixed really well.
I dropped some of the white Mermaid Marker onto the dark blue to see what sort of effect it had and it sort of gave a bleached effect.
For my second layout I really tested out all of the colours! I drew this cut file onto white card, again using my Silhouette Sketch pens. I then coloured in each of the strips using the markers. When it was all painted it was super bright! So I added a sheet of gold stars acetate over the top and also added some vellum over to the left side of the layout so I could add my photos but also have some separation between them and the busy background. The Mermaid Markers paint beautifully and give a really lovely finish. They are very easy to control and the glittery ones are super sparkly. I’ve used some of the Tales & Dreams collection by Pretty Little Studio.
For my final layout today I used the Mermaid Markers to create a splodgy background. I simply dropped a few drops onto some cellophane and then turned it over and splodged it onto some white cardstock. I used a few different pens to get different colours onto my background. I also spritzed the ink on the cellophane with some water so that it was very runny, then used a paint brush to add flicks to my layout.
I added lots of blooms from the Tales & Dreams collection by Pretty Little Studio, as well as some other die cuts and I finished off with some sequins.
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I used the Mermaid Markers, they are so lovely to work with and super easy – it’s like having a pre-loaded paintbrush that doesn’t need washing, awesome!
Happy scrapping xxx
