It’s Time to Celebrate | Glimmer & Glee | Julie Taylor
Hello Magpies,
For this layout, I reached for the beautiful Glimmer & Glee collection from 49 and Market, and it was the perfect choice for documenting these sweet photos from a first birthday shoot. Although this collection is packed with gorgeous colour and playful patterns, I decided to focus on the blues, oranges, and yellows to create a fun and cheerful page that suited a little boy perfectly.
I began with a blue base paper and mounted my four 2.5″ x 3.5″ photos onto a coordinating paper mat. Once the photos were arranged centrally on the page, I hand-sewed a border around the outside of the photo cluster. I love adding stitching to my layouts as it brings extra texture and a handmade touch that helps draw attention to the focal point.
With the photos in place, it was time for the fun part—embellishing! I selected three of the scalloped pieces from the collection and layered them across the centre of the photo arrangement. These added a lovely sense of movement and helped tie the design together. I then began building clusters on either side of the photos, adding ephemera pieces to the left and right to create balance while keeping the focus on those adorable birthday memories.
For the title, I chose a phrase from the chipboard pack that perfectly captured the joyful feel of the page. To finish everything off, I couldn’t resist adding the cutest teddy bear embellishment sitting on his swing to the right-hand side of the layout. He adds so much charm and whimsy and was the perfect finishing touch.
This was such a fun page to create, and the Glimmer & Glee collection made documenting these precious first birthday moments an absolute joy.
