I Love Travelling with You Scrapbook Layout – Echo Park – It’s Time to Travel – Wendy Meffan
One of the highlights of our San Francisco adventure was visiting the famous Painted Ladies at Alamo Square. These colourful Victorian homes are among the city’s most iconic landmarks, and seeing them in person was every bit as impressive as I had imagined. With the beautiful houses, green park surroundings, and San Francisco skyline beyond, it was the perfect location to capture some special memories.
To document our visit, I created this layout using the It’s Time to Travel collection from Echo Park. The travel-inspired designs and colours worked perfectly with the sightseeing theme of the page.
I started by creating two large arrows from patterned paper and positioned them diagonally across the layout. To add extra interest and movement, the arrows point in opposite directions, creating a dynamic design that naturally leads your eye around the page. Inside each arrow, I attached a strip of photos featuring our visit to Alamo Square and the Painted Ladies. This allowed me to include multiple photos while keeping the overall design balanced and cohesive.
Once the foundation was in place, I focused on embellishing around the arrows. I created clusters at both ends of each arrow as well as above and below them, helping to frame the photos and fill the page with detail. The diagonal design provided lots of opportunities to add layers and visual interest without overwhelming the photographs.
For the embellishments, I used a combination of pieces from the sticker sheet, sticker book, and Frames & Tags ephemera pack. Layering these elements together added depth and helped reinforce the travel theme throughout the layout. The tags, labels, and travel icons complement the photos beautifully while adding pops of colour and texture.
I love how the opposing arrows create movement across the page and draw attention to the photos. This layout perfectly captures our visit to the Painted Ladies and preserves a wonderful memory from our time exploring San Francisco.
