Horizon Part 2 | Jo Boland

Hello again, it’s Jo here with my second batch of projects for this month. Again I am using the colourful ‘Horizon’ collection by Paige Evans from Pink Paislee. You can find my first post here.

The first project I’m going to show you is a scrapbook layout inspired by this month’s Hey Little Magpie sketch challenge set by Pol Prince. You can find the challenge on our Facebook group here. Join us over there and take part, you could win 1000 Magpie Points, worth £10 to spend in the store.

For this layout I used Paper No.9 for the background and Paper No.2 floral paper (I used the sheet from the 12 x 12 paper pad for this as the pad contains two of each a-side paper from the collection) and piece of white cardstock. The title and the hearts in the bottom right are from the Puffy Phrase and Icon Sticker pack and the little foam stickers are from Paige’s previous collection Whimsical.

I fussy cut around some of the flowers and leaves down the right hand side of the floral paper to introduce the flowers across the layout. I added more florals from the Horizon Mixed Floral Die-cut pack in clusters on the pink paper. I used a mixture of glue and foam pads to raise parts up and give it a three-dimensional appearance. I used a white pen to draw a fake stitched border around the right hand side of the layout.

I added some butterflies, moths and dragonflies on foam pads around my layout, these are a mixture from the Cardstock Sticker pack and the Die-cut Ephemera pack.

My second project is a mini book featuring some highlights from our recent family holiday to Northern Ireland.

The mini book was inspired by the fabulous Paper No.18, the multi-coloured polaroid style frames. (Note – This is the b-side of the paper 18 and isn’t in the 12 x 12 paper pad). I trimmed each coloured frame to just under 3 x 4″ and set them aside while I made the inner pages from six 4 x 6″ pieces from white cardstock.

I folded each piece of 4 x 6″ cardstock in half and adhered each patterned paper frame in rainbow order to the front textured side. I then adhered the pages back to back with double-sided tape to form a book.

I used Paper No.15 to cover the front and back on the mini book and decorated the front cover with a fussy cut camera from the Maggie Holmes ‘Sunny Days’ Snapshot paper and added a ticket cut from the Beach Day paper from the same collection. The suitcase is from the Horizon Die-cut Ephemera pack and the puffy heart is from the Horizon Puffy Phrase and Icon pack.

Each inner page has a photo, a puffy phrase sticker and either a puffy heart or a cardstock sticker. Little notes of where the photo was taken are written in white pen.

And there you are, a very simple but delightfully colourful mini book!
