Home for the Holidays

Hi Magpies,

Who’s started their Christmas shopping yet? I haven’t, I’ve been enjoying some time in my craft room making two new layouts for November. I am using the new Pinkfresh collection called Home for the Holidays. If you like traditional Christmas colours and patterns but with modern twist, this is the paper for you!

JOY

My first layout uses lots of the beautiful ephemera pieces contained in the collection.

I started with a wreath shaped cut file using the reverse side of the Advent Love paper, which is rich with blues, green, red and turquoise colours, glued to a white background. I added my photo in the middle, layered with a few patterned papers.

Then I just added lots of die cuts all around the wreath, making sure I was happy with the arrangement before attaching them to the layout using foam dots to lift them up a little bit. I also fussy cut a couple of Christmas shapes and added them as well.

My title is also from the ephemera pack which I added at the lower left of the photo. To finish I glued a little date tag beneath the photo and scattered some gold stars and yellow enamel dots all around the layout.

NOEL

My second layout uses lots of strips of patterned paper to form a Christmas tree shape.

I started by cutting out a triangle shape from some copy paper. I positioned it on the background cardstock and traced around it lightly with a pencil. I used this to determine the length and height of each strip, ensuring that they were all different to get lots of variety.

I cut some of the edges into scallop and zig-zag shapes for added interest. And included some die cuts and word tags from the ephemera pack. I added a few die cuts to the tree by piercing a hole at the top and using some thread so that they looked like hanging decorations.

Then I printed three photos with a white border and made them into tags with thin paper strips as the hangers and arranged them onto the tree. I cut some pale blue stars and glued them along the outside edges of the tree and topped it with a circle shaped tag and a gold star.

I used another word from the ephemera pack as the title, topped with a cute Christmas bird. Finally, I made a tree truck from a square cut from the Advent Love paper and glued some present shaped die cuts on either side.

So that’s all from me for the moment, I’ll be here again later in the month with two more layouts using this fabulous collection!

Until then, happy scrapping,
